2016 TRD Sports end cap was replaced by a local body shop following an accident on March 2018 in Calgary, Alberta. The end cap was scraped on the side and since this is a textured finish, the body shop were unable to sand it down and repaint.

Hench the replacement end cap which they had to paint with the Blazing Blue Metallic.

When I got it back, I noticed that the exterior part of the end cap easily pulled away from the main part. The body shop are clueless and have no idea what went wrong.

From my research, this end cap is basically secured together with five pins (three on the bottom and two on the side mount) plus a metal clip that is hidden inside. I have no idea if this metal clip was reinstalled.

Do any of you kind folk have any idea how to secure the end cap and are these problems created due to a possible missing metal clip.

First image shows in normal mode and the second how far I can pull this away from the bumper.

    Thanks.

It’s almost all plastic, why not replace it with a metal aftermarket bumper?

Yup, the toothed metal clip is missing. You can order them at your local dealer. Buy a few they're easy to lose.

The only way I could get mine back on after swapping my chrome out for black was to wedge my hand in and scrape the shit out of my knuckles. Lost one in the process but they're back on and my OCD is satisfied.
