Someone decided to leave my 6 month old taco with a lovely dent. :burp:

Is it possible to pop this dent out? Or anyone have any suggestions/tips?

The bumper material seems very stiff plastic so not sure if its possible.

They're easy and somewhat cheap to replace. You can probably find a painted one on the B/S/T section or on ebay. TacoVinyl sells painted ones too for like $200ish

My best guess you have to push out from the inside. Heat it up with a paint stripper (gently). Creases will still be there.

Just order a new cap from eBay or Toyota directly.

you are not fixing that, and having it look good. the nice thing is, it is a modular bumper and the right end piece is available separately. buy the part, take it to a body shop have it painted, and install it yourself. or take it to the body shop and have them do it all. Ski

Heat gun and rubbing alcohol will take care of 90% of the damage.

I would call a paintless dent repair (PDR) and see what they can do. Usually pretty inexpensive and I know they’d be able to pop the dent right out. Not sure about the paint though

Here you go. Safest and easiest way. Heat guns can damage paint.

Go to how to fix bumper with boiling water on google for more examples. I am attaching one cause I find it funny. After that rubbing compound to get the scratches out, then polishing compound.. may need a wet sand and buff or paint if scratched real bad.

Edit, there is a metal bracket under there I think, you can bend that back

Thanks all, I'm gonna try the heat/hot water method to see if I can at least get it looking better, and buffing it as best as i can. If I don't like the results, I'll look into replacing the whole piece or a cap over it.

Update: I fixed her up! Boiling water worked great, able to pop off some screws underneath to get around the back side easily. Buffed it out with some Miguires Ultimate Compound after, applied TW Ceramic coat after to protect it longer. Its not perfect , some of the creases arent in the correct spots but overall its barely noticeable! I'm happy. Just one deep scratch that its gonna stay there (last pic).

Nice, I would leave the scratch. It is thru the paint into the plastic. You can touch it up but most touch up jobs I see look worse than the scratch

Yeah i was thinkin the same thing. The black on grey scratch isn't noticeable as its towards the underside of the bumper anyways

I have a post on here (Totaled?) where someone scratched my bumper cap and I sanded out the scratches and painted the cap. If the scratches bother you you can get a spray can of paint ($30-50) or order a new painted cap off eBay ($66) as suggested.

Congrats!! That actually came out better than I expected considering it's location on the existing lines.

First time I saw that done on a body panel it was with a heat gun and some computer air duster cans.

The panel came out with a pop and I swear my jaw hit the ground. Felt like a caveman that had just seen a flashlight for the first time.
