I bought my 19’ TRD Sport used in 20’. It had all options including the built in subwoofer behind the back right seat. Anyone else have this in there Taco? Did you replace it or do something to it for more bass output? I have replaced a couple old car cd players back in the day. I don’t know much about speakers or subs. Any info on how to get a bigger better sound would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum - first thing, there are tons of information about audio system in this link https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/audio-video.12/

For starter, do you know if you have a JBL system? or is it aftermarket sub? if you can take pictures of your head unit, the sub and also the front door speakers, the members can tell you what you have. As far as audio options to get better sounds, you come to the right place in this forum. A lot of members will be happy to help you but be careful, you probably have to spend a lot of dough :>

Thank you for the info! I definitely have the JBL speakers and head unit. I will go out in the morning and snap some pics behind the seat. If it ever stops raining..

I would recommend you move this thread to the audio forum. There are a plethora of suggestions and recommendations in that forum and the right people will help you there.

For me, I didn't have JBL audio system and I ended up replacing all 6 speakers, adding 2 amps, a subwoofer and saving up to replace the headunit soon. I am almost there.

I had the JBL stereo. I ended up replacing everything except the headunit. I wanted to keep everything looking oem.

If you just want more bass, I'd simply add a sub. You can use an AP4 - TY13 to get pre-outs. It plugs into the rear of the factory head unit. That will provide signal to aftermarket amps. From there, the sky is the limit.

I am running a JL Stealthbox. Its not going to hit hard if you listen to songs with low frequency bass (it rolls off hard at 30hz), but its extremely musical and provides plenty of bass. I also ran focal components for the front speakers. I did not do anything for the rear speakers, they are turned off. All of this is being run by a JL VX1000/5i with active crossovers. Turned out great!
