Hi, So i cant install a hoist in my garage for a RTT cause my truck will not fit in my garage. So im left with either making a homemade gantry to hoist my RTT off my truck or i am thinking about attaching a crane arm to the front of my house and using that to hoist my RTT off and on.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2fYIeKilU50

Here's a vid of someone using a crane arm attached to their house, but i have no idea how to get started on how i can install that crane arm to my house. Any ideas??

Can't a friend help you out lifting it off and on? Am I missing something here?

I slide mine off the back of my truck, down the tailgate onto a movers dolly. strap it on, and it stores upright in the geee-raj  reverse procedure when you need to put it on

I'm thinking bracket for a horizontal beam to attach the block and tackle to. Eye bolt higher up to attach a cable to so it creates a 45* angle to actually support the weight of the load.

If i had the luxury of having a friend help every time i needed help with taking it on and off, i probably wouldn't ask to make this stuff...

My truck is also my daily driver, and my gf can barely help with lifting this thing on and off, i would like to be able to put it on and off at moments notice without having to wait for back up.

Where on your truck does it mount? Roof rack, bed rack full height, half height, etc?

Is there anything in your bed like a rack or anything? What I'm getting at is maybe you can have a couple long boards that clamp to your roof rack somehow, and you essentially just slide the RTT up the ramp, or possibly use a long ratchet strap at the front end of the rack to pull it up said ramp. Just a possible cheaper alternative.

Yea yea i know, should mount on my bed, but i have a retrax tonneau that i use to store expensive gear during the week, so im left with having my RTT on top the cab.

Or maybe some long boards that attach to the rack from the side of the truck so there's nothing in the way?

we use aluminum I beams in 8' sections, to hang suspended scaffolding off buildings. they have a clamping system that allows up to 24' of beam to be made, and can get it to the roof in 8' sections. check with sunbelt scaffolding (if out there) or any scaffolding supplier

You could build something like this, or buy this one and modify to your needs if you are handy with a welder. It has a optional stand. I am not a fan of drilling into my siding, it was bad enough when I installed my nest outdoor cam lol

Or better yet just concrete in a 4x4 next to your driveway/fence and mount the crane off that

It doesnt look like that jack would reach the cab haha, but concreting a 4x4 might not be a bad idea. thanks for that.

Check out the Wrangler forums. They use powered winchs and pullies to lift their hard tops on and off. There's aftermarket hoist systems and I don't see why they wouldn't work for you

This might be a good place to start. Buold a frame out of unistrut and attach to ceiling of your garage.
Edit: Just read op. Build a frame attached to your driveway.
