Had a crazy idea to put bucket seats in the back on a 2009 double cab. Since the backseat is a 60/40. And the drive side back seat is the smaller one. Couldn’t I just go to a junkyard and get a driver side back seat just like it, then install it behind the passenger seat? The seats in the back don’t have handles and the buckles are attached to the floor. I don’t know it’s a crazy idea. What’s the best ideas you guys got.

You’ll need a custom bracket setup to mount it all safely. Additionally you’ll have to have a lower profile seat as the rear hump to roof height is smaller than the front seat setup.

I’ve seen some rare pics of Tacoma’s with custom fab setups using race buckets. The Arctic Tacoma pics floating out there are another example.

You guys must be misunderstanding. I don’t want a 60/40 seat in the back. I want bucket seats just like the front.

Would be difficult with the underseat storage in the rear of a doublecab, Would take a LOT of fabrication work due to the difference in the height of the floor.

Okay this idea sounds like a rediculous use of time, thought, and energy. I think that's why I love it! Might want to make sure the bucket seats aren't too long (front to back), otherwise leg room would be an issue. Also be sure to look at how the benches are mounted and tie into their mounting point if you can to ensure that the seats aren't gonna fly if you crash. Good luck and take a lot of pics along the way!
