So, yeah... Created a bit of a maintenance opportunity for myself. Looking to purchase a material / fluid pump to perform a transmission fluid change. Would like a cheap, reliable and fast electric pump ... Not sure if you can choose all three (cheap, reliable and fast). Whatchya got?

Do you have a tow package? You can use the transmissions internal pump. No need for fancy equipment.

Hook up the cooler Inlet to a hose submerged in a bucket of fresh WS and the cooler outlet to a hose draining into an empty bucket and start the truck.

Hand pump at Walmart. Hand pump offers better control.

Did the same thing once. Good luck.

Not electric but i auggest a mityvac 2 way fluid evacuator. Has suction and blow. Comes in handy changing oil on vehicles you dont want to take the skid plate off of to get to the drain plug. Just stick the hose down the dipstick tube and pump the oil out. Ive used it on a few transmissions now without dipsticks to add fluid.

Also, I have a scanguage 2, it helped to be able to check the proper temperature for the transmission fluid. Truck has been fine since I had "the accident" (about 20,000mi ago) but I still plan on having fluids drained and replaced around 60,000mi for peace of mind.

Another alternative is a $10 pump sprayer from Walmart. YouTube has videos.

The internal pump won’t suck in the new fluid. You either need gravity or the pump the OP is looking for.

Simplest - cheapest - easiest way to refill transmission. Clear vinyl tubing - 1/2" ID - 5/8" OD

The 5/8" OD tubing fits in the fill hole nice and snug. No waddling around or falling out.

Same goes for the rear differential - only here you use a length of 7/8" heater hose and a 3-4" long plastic tube(1/2" Wide) that fits in the end of the hose that goes into the fill hole. Hold in place with a hose clamp. See plumbing/gardening sections at HD/Lowes The rest of the hose is routed up over RR tire and a funnel is fitted into that end. Pour in the gear oil. Much easier than fooling around with a pump while underneath the vehicle.

yup, 1/2 recommended. When i did this, i had bought a hand pump that attaches to the bottles, and it took forever. so out came the clear hose and bam, its the way to go. I think i did the front diff the same way, dont remember, but its not as much volume so not as big a problem

I just get under the truck, take a gulp of fluid and spit it into a 1/2" tube. Takes a little longer, but you really feel like you accomplished something when you're done.

Trouble I ordered the little Carista ($13) hoping it provides Temp info. It looks to be pretty limited as to what you can do on Gen2-3 trucks. I'm sure I'll wind up a Scanguage in the coming days. My Brother is a ASE Master and owns an Independent shop focusing on premium imports. He's had the big-boy talk with me several times over the years.

EJL if the Wife is around (Certified to pour lubricants and correct every decision I make while driving) this is the way I'll go. If it's a solo service... I'm gonna be smashing that little pump for a couple of days.

Aron, I picked up a little hand transfer pump at the WallyWorld, a stitch and a quarter of half inch vinyl tubing and ordered a brand spankin' new, 2-way Mityvac from the Amazons (It was time for a new one and I wanted to treat myself with something pretty.) Keeping my options option. Picked up 4-quarts of WS from Mister Toyota Dealer so I can get to work Thursday Morning, but going to do the filter and a full change (probably Redline) this weekend.

I feel terrible, I used to put the little guy on the jack-stands once a month and wash his cute little belly, now he's sitting all alone in the driveway with an empty transmission pan while I Christmas party it up with my 71 year old mother... "Tis the Season for Natural Light" she always says. (She's a bit of a Redneck, always complaining on the local AM radio call-in show how the grocer wont take shotgun husk in trade. That really grinds her gears.)

Marine, I cannot help but notice your most excellent choice of masking tape on that posted photo. Are you giving it honest work, or using it for household painting?
