Been posting on Tacoma4g but figured it’s time to share the love here too! So far this truck has blown away all expectations!

    Build Update (4 April 2024)

Wheels and tires are now mounted! I originally wanted to go Method 703 in black but this was my opportunity to finally put bronze wheels on a car/truck. I didn’t care for 703s in Bronze, but Method recently released the 318 and it is brilliant in bronze! 110% satisfied with my choice!

    Wheel specs:
    Method MR318 17x8.5 25mm off-set

    Tire specs:
    BF Goodrich KO3 285/70R17 Load rating C

    (20 April 2024)

30 miles on the odometer and already thrilled with the improvements over Gen3! Not enough mileage yet to comment on the manual transmission. I’m playing around with shifting speed, iMT on/off, etc but I’m not yet getting on it until it’s broken in. I’m also noting all the quirks and features (as Doug DeMuro says). Notable mention- electronic parking brake auto engages when you turn off the truck! This solves my age old problem of “did I remember to set the parking brake?”. Also notable mention - there are footwell lights and the bed lights automatically turn on when you open the tailgate!

Took it in to Apex Filmwerks for Xpel PPF partial front, and door cups/edges. Decided to put a light smoke film on the fog lights. It looks much better!

Also had Xpel Premium + ceramic tint installed. 70% windshield, 70% sunroof and 35% front sides.

Wheels and tires go on Tuesday!

    (19 March 2024)

My taco arrived a week EARLY at the dealer today from Guanajuato! Two weeks from the time it was put on the train until delivery to the dealership!

I got lucky and the build is limited to the upgrade package, sunroof, 14” multimedia upgrade, and mud flaps.

The dealership is nine hours away. I have shipping arranged but unfortunately won’t be taking delivery until next week as I’ll be out of town.. I will do a full write up after I receive it and share info on some early mods and plans!

KO3s arrived today and Method wheels are on the way! Going a little different route with the wheels than what everyone else seems to be doing. More to come!

Have you driven a 3rd gen manual Tacoma? Curious how the 4th gen manual with the turbo drives.

Had a 2016 TRD Sport manual (since 2016) with OVtune/VF tuner. Also had a 2023 Pro manual (very briefly) on stock garbage tune.

I only have 140 miles on the clock so I haven’t yet gotten heavy on it but the drivability and low end torque are far better. Normal mode is perfect for casual driving. Sport mode is notably more powerful. The intelligent manual mode (iMT) works very well and rev matches flawlessly. I thought I’d hate this feature but I kinda like it! Can’t wait to hammer on it and see what it can really do.

Oh and I absolutely love the turbo spool up!

How's the 285 tire clearance? Looks pretty tight in the fender well from the pictures.

$49k MSRP with $6k upgrade package, 14” multimedia/JBL, sunroof, and mud flaps. These only get stupid expensive with Premium package

Anyone doubting the price of these trucks - they are leaps and bounds nicer, more equipped, better fit/finish, better safety safety/driver assist features, etc. they cost more but you get a hell of a lot more.

This truck is far nicer than the 2023 Pro Manual I had. Glad I parted with it for this! Now the 2024+ Pro will indeed me outta control expensive but it will be in a whole new league compared to Gen3.

Tons of clearance, no rubbing, no trimming. KO3/KO2 do tend to run a little smaller than other brands though but plenty of people running 285/70R17 Wildpeaks without issues.

So glad you posted this. I've got a Bronze Oxide LB on allocation and have been debating bronze or black wheels. Current plan is to put the 285/70's on the stock wheels, and 285/75's on the 703's for the 35 offset.

Ugh, I’m so jealous….i like my 3rd gen but it can be so underwhelming. I badly want a 4th gen MT. Probably going to get one in 2-3 years.

    Nice truck.

I’m glad Toyota kept the manual option for the 4th gen Tacomas, so I can have a plan if something happens with my 3rd gen
