I hate creating a pointless thread like this but I have honestly not had any luck finding stock OR wheels painted/powdercoated/plastidipped bronze or gold. I am thinking of prepping and painting my stock OR wheels in Rustoleum bronze. Anyone have pictures of what this would look like or willing to photoshop? lol

That's the point lol I wanna make that judgement myself by seeing if anyone else has done it. They look pretty good blacked out and that might be the route I take if indeed they look like ass when painted gold/bronze.

    **Edit

I just saw your MS paint picture haha That's a terrible paint job.

    I tried my best

Good luck though, I'm sure someone's done it. If not, we'll let you be the first.:hattip:

I suppose I could buy cheap takeoffs and paint them. It would be much easier.

Hello. In response to anybody asking about painting their TRD Trail or Off Road wheels bronze, I finally did it. Took my time, didn't rush it. Used a bucket full of soapy water(blue Dawn dish soap, steel wool for pots/pans). Washed/scrubbed them, then sprayed them down with Purple Power. Dried em. Then sanded down with 220 grit sandpaper, taking all the coating/clear off. Hit em with 320, then sprayed with water to remove all the dust. Wiped them down several times with acetone. Used Rustoleum black universal primer(3 coats). As soon as the 3 coats dried, I used Rustoleum Metallic Champagne Bronze(4 coats), applying a coat within 5-10 mins after each coat dried. Then to seal it, Rustoleum High Gloss topcoat(4 coats). Also took apart the center caps, sanded them down, primed then, and did the same.

That’s a lot of work. You won’t be happy with that clear coat in the long term. Next time do exactly what you described but purchase a real automotive clear coat.

Yeah, get 2K clear. Painted the wheels in my wife’s highlander and used regular spray paint clear and wished I had used the 2K clear. It hardens up much better and is far more durable.

I installed gold overlays in 2018. They are still holding up pretty well. I have at least 80,000 miles on them. They have survived two sets of tires being mounted on them. I really like them and have gotten several compliments on them. I've since debadged and stickered the truck, which I think makes the gold wheels look even better.

    Someone did it here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/plasti-dip-my-stock-wheels-bronze.563365/

LOL. I'd have to agree with you. The plastidipped OR wheels I've seen look terrible. Not a great wheel design to begin with, and having them all the same color calls even more attention to how bad the design is.
