    Hey all!
I'm sure there is a thread already started regarding this, but wanted to share this in hopes if helps someone else out there! Here's my journey to buying a "new" sun visor:

My driver side visor started out drooping about 1" (which isn't the end of the world, but I'm a perfectionist and it bothered me. It also developed a loud "pop" sound when putting it back against the roof). After awhile it only got worse, in addition to left side getting internally pried open.

I took it off in hopes of opening it and trying to fix something inside. Looks like the small plastic pronged piece was melted/broken, which I'm guessing is supposed to stay in place to prevent the two metal pieces from turning up (which they were, and I'm assuming that's where the noise was coming from).

Instead of trying to see if Toyota sells that tiny part, I called my local junk yard for a while visor (just in case) to see if they had my model (they didn't) but the lady I spoke with gave me a company called LKQ's number, which I called and found out they have a shop in my city. They ordered me a preowned one, and $40 later, I can see when it's sunny out again. Aside from VERY minor blemishes (which I was able to get most out), it was good as new.:woot:
    Check them out: http://www.lkqcorp.com/en-us/
*BTW- I called my local dealership first and they wanted $286 dollars for a new visor, no thanks!

my "new" visor (ignore the dark gray areas, it's wet from cleaning)

There's a thread on this issue, some cut open the fabric and use zip ties or loops of wire to hold it closed so it doesn't droop and then hot glue the fabric back in place.

Same thing happened to my visor..
Just a heads up I used camelback
and pmd @gunny1005 for a new one 93$
More expensive than your find, but way less than what the dealership wanted to charge you..
    He’s a great option for OEM parts:thumbsup:

Just a slight sidetrack on this thread. There is no more free shipping from Camelback and Gunny no longer gives better prices than what's listed on the Camelback website. So, there's really no advantage to going through Gunny VS. just buying off the website. They do have good prices though.

That’s true about shipping but it way easier to pm gunny for me anyway..
He replies within a day during the week
I had rotors shipped to Colorado and it was 9$
Still way cheaper than other dealers in the area..

For me it's a lot easier to just click add to cart, add to cart, add to cart, click paypal and done. That said, I'm about to order about $300 worth of stuff from them.

You guys. Seriously. My drivers side visor is occluding my field of view. This will be the second time this had happened since I bought the truck in 07. I’m looking at another replacement. The passenger side is drooping but it’s manageable. What is up? This is a serious Toyota defect and we should not be liable for the CONSTANT repair. I’m irritated.

Give this a try. I wasn't sure if it was going to work but I didn't have much to lose. I drilled a hole all of the way through the visor, shoved a bolt through it and put a nut on the other end and tightened it up. Works great and doesn't look awful IMO.

**update** agreed! and my "new" (ie used one) has started doing the same thing :( I may call LKQ again, but am really not looking forward to doing this every few months. I may try the bolt hack. Looks like it works

I slid the cover back on mine and did some plastic welding with some stainless mesh, that was 2 years ago and still works perfect.
Didn't even have to cut the material, if you want to send me yours, I can fix it, just sayin.

    minor tweaks
I did the bolt fix with some very small hardware, I cut the last couple stitches in the cover, pulled it back out of the way then put in the bolt. Finished up with a drop of superglue on each side. Can't tell it was ever repaired except a very slight bump under the felt. It get's adjusted almost every ride and has been working well for a year.

You can find a variety of these things on eBay cheaper than dealership. In addition there’s aftermarket available although not pretty as stock. Must be a high volume item because if you watch they run sales from time to time.

    Not Enough and it continues...
I need to go look for some small bolts now....correct length and small heads.
