Not sure how this happened but noticed some grease under my front fender today and saw this:

Is it OK to drive if I remove the stabilizer bar for a week?

Had a quick quote from my stealership, about $ 560 for a new shaft (because of broken boot) and $ 120 for a new stabilizer link. They quoted about 2 hrs of work over the phone ( $180).

Anybody had this happen to em?

It might have something to do with that 2`deep and wide rut I went thru at 60 MPH on a logging road a week ago...

Lot's of people take their sway bar off and leave it off so you'll be fine for a week. Just keep an eye on that CV, it looks pretty chewed up from the pics. Oh and take it easy in the corner, you'll have more body roll.

The end link broke probably due to flexing it offroad. Remove the swaybar and end links and ill bet you never put it back on again.

    Replace that CV too.

If you take the sway bar off just be aware that it isn't on and your truck will handle differently. I took my sway bar off a while ago but I don't have the stock suspension either.

Thanks guys, I`ll take the sway bar off until I can get it fixed along with the CV axel.

They're more for on road handling. Keeps the truck flatter on a hard curve. You'll be fine without it but don't drive it like a sports car. I'd hit up a junkyard for that link.

    enough to go over stuff
Or get new sway bar links from allpro and install yourself. Then pick up a new cv from your local auto stor for 80 dollars. watch a couple youtube vids and install a new cv yourself or pay toyota to do that

Thanks, I might order that sway bar link.

I don't think it`s a good idea for me to take out the sway bar for an extended period of time. I like driving my taco like a sportscar and I need to haul my ATV on my bed deck for work this summer, it makes for a rather high center of gravity.

As for the CV shaft, I would prefer buying OEM since I abuse my truck on a regular basis. Not sure if I trust aftermarket for that type of part. I don't really have a lot of time to change it myself for the next while and I`m still under warranty so I`ll probably have the dealership do the work and bite the bullet.

you can also see if you can buy an extended sway bar link to accomodate your lift...if you have one. it should give more flex..
