So this happened this weekend on the way to the camp, fourwheeler was strapped down, going over a low water bridge where the water crosses over the bridge itself, had a lot of rain down here so the water was high, went across a little faster than normal to help avoid the strong current, when I came to the other side of the bridge the fourwheeler jumped forward and shattered my rear window.

Looking at buying a Back Rack Safety Rack like this one, not interested in drilling in the bedsides which is what their mounting hardware seems to require and also costs an additional $85. I was thinking I could buy the rack, and use some angle iron to mount to the bed rails and weld the rack to the angle iron. Here's the rack I'm looking at. What do you guys think I should do?

I have the back rack, and it just bolts into the rail system. They sell a bracket for Tacomas. I'll try to get a couple pictures later.

A cheaper alternative unless your realling wanting the rack is to just space the four wheeler back with some wood blocks.

Not if you ram it under power but it would protect the back glass during transport

I think I had the nut in a little cockeyed. It hasn't affected the strength of it at all. I can shake the whole truck by the rack, without it moving.

And I use 1" schedule 80 pipe for the upright, no lack of strength there.

It's cheaper to just properly secure the ATV. As mentioned above, use some wood to chock the wheels back so the bumper can't hit the window and strap the ATV down.

Whatever you do make sure it's removable in case you do have a spontaneous shatter due to pressure changes and etc my headache rack is welded into my flatbed and had my rear window shatter somehow and had to remove the whole bed. Just something to keep in mind when looking at mounts.

I had this rack on my last Tacoma and it was strong. Like someone said you can easily use it to rock the truck. I'm planning to pick one up for my new truck as soon as I can.
