Yeah... so sometime this past winter my windshield wiper froze to my windshield, I tried to turn it on and crack... and now the drivers side blade doesn't work/move(although the passenger side still works). I made due for the rest of the winter.

Fast forward to now, summer time, its beginning to rain now and then, and I need it fixed. Anyone else have this problem and/or know the solution? I don't even know where to begin to replace the motor for the wipers. And theres no way I'm taking it to a dealer....

    Please help!

    Reserected from the dead.
You need to replace the arm. There are splines inside the arm and splines on the shaft of the wiper post. The arm splines are made of a softer metal and strip out. Its designed that way on purpose.

All you need is a screw driver to pop off the cap and 10 mm socket wrench to remove the nut and then wiggle the arm to free it from the post. New arm install is the opposite procedure.

Call the dealer and find out what they get for a a new arm. I guarantee they have them in stock. This is a common repair for snow/ice states.

You may want to try tightening the nut first. Snugging it up might help it sit tight on the spline again, that could save you some time and money.

THANK YOU for this. Saved me $30-40! Nut was loose, gave it a few turns. Mine was 14mm but no biggie.

Next time freezing wet weather is forecast, be proactive and flip your wiper arms up. Saves a lot of grief later.

I had one, instead of going 3 o’clock to 11, it would go 2 to 12. I took the arm off, out poured a bunch of metal powder. A new arm fixed it.
