Howdy. Looking to elicit some advice regarding a broken coil spring. Truck is 2017 TRD Off-Road, 77K miles.

At 71K miles and in April 22' I replaced the OEM Bilstein shocks with true Bilstein 4600s (which have a much thicker diameter than OEM toyota billys). Moog shock mounts replaced the original worn mounts. The original OEM coils were re-used.

Are there better-quality springs I should be looking at other than OEM? The Bilstein 4600's will remain on the truck as they only have 6K miles and the ride is sweet. But I feel like a dummy for not just buying the 5100s, as it appears I would have had a multitude of coil spring options to choose from for that shock.

Also, what do you all think about the condition of the rubber on the Moog shock mount? I didn't expect it to have micro-cracks after only 1 year and 6K miles.

Obligatory note, I drive like an old person, have never curbed the vehicle, the only off-roading this vehicle has seen has been forest service roads at slow speeds. Nothing else on the suspension is damaged. This coil spring crack is quite a surprise to me.

One last thing, what the heck is up with those three visible holes on the coil spring? Seems strange to me, I would have expected this component to be solid metal with no holes.

    Thanks in advance.

That's a plastic sleeve to help control noise/harmonics....the spring is fine.

Sweet. I'm going to just remove it then. Seems pointless for it to remain.
