Changed out my axle yesterday evening and when putting back together 1 of the 4 bolts on the ball joint snapped. Everything seemed good and tight and I drove it home and back to work this morning.

    1. Is it safe to drive for a few days until I can get another bolt in?
    2. How would be the easiest way to attempt to get the bolt out? Don't have a pic yet but it broke off to where I can't weld a nut on or get pliers on it

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    If it matters any its a 02 3.4 4x4 TRD 5spd

I drove mine for 2 weeks, no highway speeds, until I could get the part and time to replace it.
My bolt broke off in the knuckle. I replaced the whole knuckle that's why it took so long.

Remember that there are 4 bolts = 25% holding per bolt. When you have 3 bolts your at 33% holding per bolt, an 8% load increase!
    This is substantial!
Fix this quickly so you don't get hurt!

    Thanks!

Yeah I'm trying to get it fixed ASAP fortunately I only live 10 mins from work and its all back roads. It got dark on me last night as I was finishing everything up. But I think my bolt broke off in the knuckle as well. Gonna take a look first chance I get today and maybe try and easy out first.

Use an easy-out. Still going to have to remove the knuckle/spindle so you can put it into a bench vice to work with it. But even if it doesn't your not out anything.

If it didn't break off flush, just remove the lbj again, probably can take it out with your fingers, won't be tight at all with the bolt head missing.

Good news! Had some spare time this evening and got it fixed. Just dropped the ball joint and was able to get pliers on the broken bolt then twist it out with fingers. Got the new bolts in and good to go now! Now just to get a new tie rod since my boot is busted on it too.
