Anyone ever repaired/replaced the 3rd brake light on an A.R.E. cap? Besides being all faded to looking white, it is broken.

I would think it would simply pop off, but, the damn thing is so brittle and seems like it is glued in?

Anyone else had anything like this?

I would go ask a local truck shell dealer.

    I have a Snugtop.

Mine was screwed and glued. I removed the screws and used a razor blade to cut the silicone. It then slid out. Contact an ARE dealer and have them give you a price on a new one and just replace it. If you don't and it is cracking, it'll be leaking in no time. Save yourself the headache.

I guess that's my only choice I was hoping there was an online source for these things.

I know when you walk into the ARE dealer near me, they are ridiculously high on parts. Even the smallest parts.

Here's a generic one I found on eBay, have no idea if it would fit though.

Bringing this thread back, hopefully it can help someone here.

My (used) topper I bought a few months back had about half the LED's out on the 3rd brake light. I found these guys online, not sure if it will work for your application. I bought their 3rd brake light / interior dome light combo for $49 and works perfectly. Local dealer wanted $89 ?!!! Screw that.

I'm fairly certain that a lot of the topper manufacturers use the same vendor for their brake / dome lights. My particular shell is a LEER 100XQ

Replying more for archival purposes since this thread seems pretty old.

The 10" LED light bar on my A.R.E. cap expired and I had to pry it off with a screwdriver. It had been affixed with some 3M tape that was a bear to get through --wound up chewing up a little of the paint in the process. The strips were only along the bottom, not the back.

I haven't found any matching online, so I will check with the A.R.E. dealer tomorrow for what is likely a $80 replacement part .
