Edit: Never mind, false alarm. I’m just an idiot. Toyota uses a different fuse type than I’m used to. I thought I snapped the prongs, but they’re all like this. Pic for comparison below. Toyota style on left, replacement style on right.

I was replacing a blown OBD fuse earlier today. When I pulled it, the two metal prongs broke off at the base of the colored plastic box.

Any ideas how I can get this out of the fuse box so I can finish this up? I've disconnected the battery already but I don't want to stick anything in the fuse box yet.

I'm curious. How does one blow the OBD fuse? For that matter, how do so many folks seem to blow fuses? Seems if you are doing anything to an electrical circuit, except measuring voltage you should deenergize it first.

I hooked up my scan gauge into my OBD port under the dash and it tripped when I cranked over the truck I'm guessing.

After you make alterations, you have to turn it on sooner or later.

So you make alterations and energize with your fingers crossed?

    And toes too.

I make alterations with the anticipation that everything will work perfectly. But we are all forced to live by Murphy's Law.

Often those alterations are preformed by rodents, kinetic energy, or age.

There’s a spot in the lid of the engine bay fuse box for a pair of plastic tweezer made for this. They’re wider than usual with a lip to hook a recess on either side of the fuse. O’reilly’s or other auto supply should have them since the fuse is one of the standard types.

One on the left is atm low profile mini blade fuse
One on the right is atm mini blade fuse.
Mini and micro get tossed around. The difference is one is low profile and the other isn’t but they have the same width so if there’s head room the taller one will fit the same contacts as the low profile one.

Agree with above the replacement fuse is the wrong one. It will plug in, but it is the wrong design.
