I’m needing to put some new brakes on my 07 tacoma. I’m thinking I might go with OEM or Brembo brakes. Anybody running these? Are there any other brands I should consider?

They have a kit for just the front or front and rear brakes. I have 85k and I’m on my second set of OEM pads and original rotors. The back brake shoes and drums are original. Should I go ahead and replace both front and rear while I’m at it?

Do any of you guys ever check the runout on rotors after you install them or do you just throw them on and not worry about it?

Don't bother, even though the name is Italian the crappy things are made in China. Put a set on the wife's Honda Civic and one side has started to go bad after a couple of weeks. It's like the rotor casting has a fault in it as there is a band starting on the face of the rotor. Already had the pads off and there is no groves on them at all. Supplier said to let I go a while to see if they seat in. Not impressed.

Yea, just put an EBC pad and rotor kits on the front and be done. Stock calipers should be fine. Lot of people hate on the rear drums, but they work ok. And they last a LONG time. Most of your braking is done in the front anyway.

I have Brembo blank rotors on my Tacoma. Zero issues. I am running Hawk LTS pads.

I can vouch for the Brembo rotors. They have been trouble free on my Tacoma

I used the brembo pads on stock rotors on my last change. I will say they bite a little better than OEM. Pedal feels slightly more responsive and stopping has a much more controlled feel to it. These are all entirely subjective of course and your experience may differ. The negative is that of any performance brake pad- they produce a shit load of dust. My wheels are always coated with a thick layer of it. I have a habit of washing my wheels (front and back) when I rotate and cannot emphasize how much dust there is.
At about 10k miles in they started to squeak. I thought they had worn down, but when pulled a wheel to check, the caliper was caked with dust and the wear sensor was nowhere near making contact with the rotor. Cleaned the caliper and rotor and the squeak went away but it returned a couple weeks later. Pads still have some life in them so I’m just living with it for now.
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend them and probably won’t buy them again for the heavy truck.
They work really well but they’re dirty and as they say: race car parts make race car noises.
