I went to change my front brakes today I have a 2014 2wd 5 lug. Truck has almost 90k miles and these are the original rotors and pads. Started with the drivers side and couldn't get the rotor off. I used pb blaster. I tried threading in a 5/16 bolt in both the holes. I tried heating it up with the torch. I hit it with a rubber mallet and then a sledge hammer. After that I got a 3 arm puller and still couldn't budge the rotor. Please help. Do I need an air chisel? I've been doin my own brakes on all my trucks since I'm a teenager. Never had such a problem like this. Thanks

All of the above SHOULD have gotten it off. The bolt hole thing, use good strong bolts with some anti seize on the threads, tighten them down, then walk away. In time they should push out a little, tighten some more, more time if necessary, repeat.

Of course you know to clean that penetrant off before putting in new pads.

I know this sounds stupid, but did you rotate the rotor and hit it in different spots. Believe it or not, I had luck doing this before. It’s like there is a certain spot and it pops right off. Then again, I live in Tennessee. We don’t see rust like some of you guys do.

I shot pb blaster in the 2 holes and threaded in the bolts. Once they bottomed out they stripped. I had to bend them back and forth to break them so I'm able to drive the truck

    Ahh, I missed that.
    I’m a 6 luck. I haven’t owned a 5 lug (Yet)

I don’t have any info on the 5 lugs.
I just saved the stuff for 6 lug. That way I didn’t have to sort through all the stuff when I need to.

That’s why I like to tag Jimmyh on the 2.7 stuff. I don’t have much info on them either.

Yes I kept turning it while hitting it. No the wheel bearing is not there in the front on my 2014. The rotor slides on over the lug studs

Tighten the forcing bolt down super tight, using something to lube it. The while it is tight, take a hammer/brass mini sledge and start hitting around the edges. Working one side to the other. Tighten bolt more, repeat. Should pop it eventually. Gotta hit it like it owes ya money.

I had to hit/smack mine with a brass hammer to get mine off my 2007 prerunner. They were stuck good. BIL.. a ex ford mechanic brought me a brass hammer, said smack the shit out of it until it breaks loose.... the brass is softer than steel or even a dead blow.

I'm telling you I was hitting it all day. With both a rubber mallet and then a big sledge hammer. Didn't even budge it. I'm desperate

Can you fit a chisel between the hub and rotor and whack the chisel/hell even a small flathead screwdriver.

I only tried the drivers side. That's where I started. I assume the passenger side will be the same

I didn't notice but just figured, oh boy he's going to have trouble if that's the case.
OP, surely you've removed the retainers off the studs, I figure you got that.
I've had luck before doing as someone else mentioned and turn the wheel spray penetrating foo foo in all the holes, tap more with mallet or no-bounce/dead blow. You'll get it.
On my old Corvette I had let them soak and it still required 3lb sledge to get them loose. (Yes, I had the factory rivets drilled out), oh and I had new rotors so didn't care.
