I have a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport. About a month ago a car pulled out in front of me, and I stepped on my brakes pretty hard to stop suddenly.

Ever since, the brake pedal makes a loud clicking sound when I release the pedal / let off the brakes. The sound is coming from the brake pedal mechanism. If I let off the brakes very gently and slowly, it does not make this sound. But a normal release of brakes causes the CLICK.

Anyone know what is causing this? It is extremely annoying. I've googled / searched this forum / looked over the brake pedal with a flashlight... Hoping to have an idea of what is causing it before I take it to a shop.

    Thanks.

My '13 and '15 both had/have a very slight click when depressed...nothing at all loud though. I assumed it was the pedal making contact with the brake-light switch.

Took it into Dealer, mechanic said bolts in the pedal arm needed to be adjusted. That solved it.

Easiest fix of something on a car I've had in 20 years.
