One of 2 ways should be done. Depending on what condition the front rotors are in, either replacement or resurface . I can’t answer that one. Dealer brake job with pads and a resurface around the 300.00 mark… give or take some….. I don’t like to pad slap only because you don’t have a nice smooth surface for the new pads to ride on which may create a vibration or poor pad performance and wear. I’m sure others can comment

Depends on the driving style, weight going downhill and using the brakes. Example, on our Yaris we got 95k miles and still on the original pads!

Local Dealership is quoting $299 for new front pads and rotors resurfaced..

if I can get oem pads for $69

and new oem rotors for like $30 each

Should I just get the new rotors and have them install?

I got front and rear pads/shoes and new front rotors from Callahan for $119.

At 70k miles my front pads were almost done, but rear were fine. Turning rotors is a 20th century task. I just get new ones.

I wouldn't get new rotors. Just put new pads in & you should be fine. $299 is a fair price if you don't want to mess with it. I've done hundreds of brake jobs. Rarely do I change the rotors, unless they're really bad. Resurfacing only makes the rotor thinner.

LOL! Looks like the pads on my girlfriends Corolla when I first met her. Then I'd resurface. :)

My rotors were warped, probably that way from the factory. I didn't notice how bad until I put the new ones on. Check the runout, if you can't, just replace them.

Not worth only replacing half the brake parts to save a couple bucks.

Definitely replace if warped. You'll know if they are because it won't "evenly" stop... If you know what I mean. Think of a warped record.

If I just walk up to the Parts counter and buy brand new Rotors and pads it may cost less than their $299 package. ……

    does this make sense?

Any disadvantages of going with new rotors vs resurfacing?

My point is that new rotors are pretty affordable…..

The front pads on my old Corolla went over 150,000kms, the rear were still fine when I replaced them @ 200,000kms. The last check on my Tacoma, still ¾ life left on the front at 56,000kms and negligible wear on the rear. I expect 120,000kms should be pretty easy to get out of the front.

On my 04 Tacoma they went 75k, my 16 had 49k and half the pads left. One of my wife's previous Elantras had a sticky caliper on one side and wore that side out in 17k the other side like new. Covered by warranty.
