2017 Off Road Tacoma brakes click when depressing first time moving forward or backward from park. Afterward sound does not occur again. Any ideas?

You explained it better in fewer words than I did, it’s normal

Ah, but little noises unsettle me. What causes it? Or can you link where it was discussed?

    Yes
It’s the brake pads moving around the pins that retain them in the caliper, super common on second gens too the minute you put aftermarket pads in.

I have it too. As far as I know i was told it has to do with the calipers sticking I believe or something like that. It’s normal though.

Very common on 2/3 gens. I switched to Ceramic pads and did this double spring trick, no more noise! 4099DB84-8CE0-42FC-AD13-211AF26C25D3.jpg

I'm not sure if this is the same, but when I put truck into drive or reverse when I first start up, I get some clunking + shuddering. I was thinking maybe I wasn't on the brakes hard enough and it was the truck moving.

pad slap. normal. the brake pads aren't an exact fit and have a little bit of play, I imagine to compensate for expansion.
