Hey all. Just got an odyssey agm battery group 34. Would my stock alternator be enough to keep it fully charged? Or do i have to get a more powerful alternator

If you have the towing pkg., then you have a higher output alternator. Your gonna love that Battery. Proved itself at -40 startups. I'd definitely buy one again.

Nice. Congrats. When my stocker craps out, that’s what I’m getting.

Do any local stores sell these or any other agm batteries other than Optima? I want one but I don't want to have to wait for shipping when my battery dies.

Have an Odyssey for my motorcycle. Awesome battery. Never owned one for a car/truck, but will when it comes time for a replacement. Seems the 3rd Gen OEM batteries are crap.

As for charging it depends on just what sort of extra added loads your putting on the electrical system.

For close to stock your alternator should be fine.

Any reason you couldn't cut the OEM tie downs and re-bend the bottom ends, or even rethread the rods further down so it doesn't require the use of the custom oak? (lol) I'm likely about to pull the trigger on a 34 tonight, myself.

Looks like it could easily be done this way but he probably didn't want to modify anything.

Makes sense, that's what I figured.

    the problem isn't the alternator.
the charge voltage is lower than an AGM would like

That is correct. The only way around this is to correct the alternator output via an OVTune, or just charge the battery every so often on a wall charger. I'll likely opt for option B until I can afford the OVTuner.

Last year I changed it out to a black hard plastic piece and put my winch breaker on it. Pic below is before I put the breaker on.

I think Odyssey makes a black plastic piece that snaps onto the bottom of the battery that raises it about an inch. I bought one with mine years ago, but didn’t use it as I put Coupes TRD battery tie down on at the same time and it had shorted threaded rods.

Yeah, makes sense. Sorry for the stupid inquiry; was hoping I might be able to find some at a brick-and-mortar store of some sort.

So this can be ordered in addition to the battery? It looks like the 34R-PC1500 I'm looking at through Autozone may come with a spacer/riser of some sort. I guess I'll find out:rofl:

Or just get some all thread and bend some j hooks on the end. That’s what I did, cheap, easy, and future proof.
