Hoping someone can confirm the bolt size for mounting running boards in the factory mounting holes in the body. There are six holes per side, and each has a black plastic threaded plug in each hole in the 2017. I believe all generations of Tacomas are the same, but not 100% sure.

I believe the correct bolt size is M8-1.25 x 20 (Metric 8mm nominal diameter - 1.25mm thread pitch (coarse thread) x 20mm length.

    Thank you

    I can't speak for a 2017, but on my 2015 they're M8-1.25...

Life savers, just stopped in to grab some bolts for my son’s 2014 and they fit (thread wise) just bought a used set of running boards on a buy sell group.

So the M8x1.25x20 should do the trick...

I just picked up a set of side steps on FB for my 2016 and this post took all the guesswork out of finding the right bolts for getting them installed. Thanks!

The correct bolt size for side railing is M6-1.0x25.
I just replaced them all EIGHT and they are the correct size.
Keep in mind they come with Locktite BLUE, so they will be hard to unscrew.

This bolt size is for gen 3? Can someone confirm? I just got a 2023 sr5 access cab 4wd. Took my tube steps off my 2016 to reuse. But the oem bolts were rusted well beyond usable.
