Im looking into getting the Fat Bobs kit, is that a body lift kit or suspension lift kit? I want to get a good lift but Ive heard the body lift doesnt look very good. Fat Bobs lift looks pretty good to me though. Im not looking into spending alot of money on a suspension kit either. Do they really look any different? Should I get the Fat Bobs?

    Any help?

I guess it comes down to how much lift you're looking for and what you want to do with your truck. A body lift will just create a gap between the body and frame of your truck. It doesn't give you any ground clearance and doesn't improve your truck's articulation. Also, because most lifts are basically plastic spacers, I wouldn't get one longer than an inch for safety reasons.

Suspension lifts are more expensive and have a number of different varieties, depending on how much you want to spend. If you're on a budget, I would look into just getting some bilstein 5100 shocks up front and an add-a-leaf in the rear to start. This setup is cheap and you can pick how much lift you want up front. You can also take those 5100s and incorporate them into a Toytec/Eibach coilover setup later on.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself... what are you looking to do with your truck?

1.5" Wheel spacers all around, 2.0 fox coil over with foxes in the back to match it up, add a leaf. 285/70/r16 general grabbers. my magnaflow exhaust k&n intake just threw in some maxtrac spindles. Total chaos UPA. Bunch of other little things
Body lift is the worse type of lift you can do if you look to have a cheap lift that can't go off roading and will be a waste of time and money do a body lift. If your looking for a good lift and smooth ride that also can go off roading and will look nice get a nice mid travel coil overs with or with out the RR. Make sure to get some nice upper arms too. Honestly the guy above me summed it up nicely.

Basically I want to get bigger tires. I have a 4 cyl 5 lug tacoma so as you probably know its got pretty wimpy tires. I dont do any serious off roading but still like to have my fun every once in a while. Looking into gettin some 31" tires so a lift would definitely help. Any suspension kits you know of that are for a 5 lug and semi cheap? They have different kits for 5 and 6 lugger correct?

Yep. They sure do. They are cheaper too nice thing about it. Honestly I have a 4 banger 6 speed which is super nice. Honestly if your going to lift it do it right. I'm glad I got the 33" tires and my mpg didn't change that much and the look is bad ass too. 33" does require some chopping and some spacers but the overall look of the truck and ride is going to keep you happy
