    I have a 2017 SR5 tacoma I'm the only owner. Recently the blower fan has been making a lot of noise when I turn on the fan. Took it to the dealership and they said they replaced it already when I had my first free inspection. Apparently there was a recall on it and now it's not covered.

    What's interesting is that this sound is intermittent and I noticed that it gets loud when temperature drops below 30 degrees. This makes me think that something is expanding and contracting.

    Anyhow I looked up the part and the directions on how to change it and it really looks like a no brainer. Besides a couple of bolts and a connecting it to power is there anything else I should be aware of?

    When did they replace it???
    Mine broke and they fixed it under warranty with the same part, then the recall happened. That blower lasted about a year and broke. I took it back and it was fixed under the recall with the new part. If you take out the cabin air filter, you'll see the fan blade, most likely that came off or is cracked allowing play and wobble.
    Good luck

    These are super easy to replace yourself. Honestly the OEM is way overpriced and you can personally attest to it not having exceptional longevity anyway, so if go for an affordable aftermarket.

    But first check the filter and even the fan for debris before buying a a new one.

    I've found a lot of leaves and other debris in fans that make noise.

    Third for the leaves in the fan club;
    Dealer replaced the cabin filter and knocked them loose.
    The next week the blower made more and more vibrations/noises.
    Luckily I've replaced blower motors and fuses in every car I've had.

    I just replaced mine a few weeks ago. I bought it on ebay from a Toyota online sales department. Cost about 50 dollars shipped. When it arrived one of the three bolt arms was cracked (yes I know, great quality plastic!) so I contacted them and they sent me a replacement without needing to send the broken part back. I'm pretty sure it won't affect function since there is a cover that attaches under the actual motor to help bolt it on but I still installed the newer unbroken part instead

    As far as installation goes.... Super easy to pull off
    Just 3 bolts I think 10mm iirc and unplug and the assembly comes right off. I couldn't see anything wrong with the motor I pulled off but it's stopped making a noise on startup when cold so I'm satisfied
