Blizzaks all year? Or similar tire?

Just curious if anyone is riding with Blizzak DM-V2s in the summer? I use them in the winter (northern NJ) and absolutely love everything about them on my 17 crew cab Long bed Off Road. They are on 09 Sport rims (17") including Ride, feel, traction. I just put the Goodyear Wrangler all terrain adventures (came with the Truck) (16") back on and I'm really missing the feel of the Blizzaks. Since they are a winter tire, any reason you can't? Can anyone familiar with the Blizzaks tell me any similar all year tires?
I did really like the Destination LE2 on my 09 Tacoma but they seemed to wear pretty quickly. When I traded it in, there was only 20k miles on them but they looked pretty worn.

You absolutely should not run Blizzaks once temps consistently get over 50 degrees. Not only will they wear out incredibly fast, but you'll have nearly zero traction under hard braking or turning. The soft rubber compound is not designed for warmer weather.

I know this from personal experience. I once ran Blizzaks on my WRX later in the year than I should have, and under steered right into a curb on a warm, wet road. On all seasons or summer tires I would have been fine. With the Blizzaks I might as well have been driving over a field of marbles.

No, since you’re in NJ you’ll want to go back to all-seasons or have a dedicated summer tire.

Engineering Explained does a great job walking through why:

If you just want one tire all year, it’s worth looking at both the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S and Falken Wildpeak A/T3W….they’re both all-terrains with great winter capability

You just need standard load quality tires to get that warm fuzzy feeling you are after. Standard load to keep them light and flexible, and quality, but an average treadwear...something softer. A lot of those cheaper tires use hard rubber that wears like iron.

Look at an 'all weather' tire if you need to run the same year round.. a bit of compromise on both ends but hey you don't have to swap.

If you thought the Destinations wore quick, wait until you see the Blizzaks in the summer. Definitely not good or real safe to run them all year.

@ubugarrity What are the tire sizes on you 16" and 17" wheels?
I bet you like the feeling of the 17" wheels over the 16" wheels as the sidewalls on the 17 should be shorter.
Shorter sidewalls have less flex and gives a more responsive feeling.

Thanks for the great info. I figured they wear quicker. I have 38k miles on the truck and the Blizzaks were on more than 50% of the milage but have less wear than the Goodyear's. Blizzaks on a 17" and Goodyear's on 16". I have the 17" 2nd gen sport rims Plasti dipped and like them better so I will probably use them after I pick a tire. Thanks again and if anyone has any specific tire that might work for me, please suggest.

Tire size could be different like this:
    265-75/16. Taller sidewalls
    265-65/17. Shorter sidewall.

Blizzaks are a little loud compared to the competition, but are considered a very comfortable tire (ride quality).

If you just want a comfortable tire made for trucks, go for the Firestone Destination A/T2. They rank highest in class for ride quality.

Alternatively, you could get a standard SUV tire, but they won't looks as nice. May not matter to you though. The BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT ranks highest in that class.

If you plan on going with the 17" rims I'd go for 265/65/17
If you go with 16" go for 265/70/16

If you liked the LE2s, they were recently replaced with the LE3s. The LE3s have a 70k mileage warranty and look very similar to the LE2s. If you want to try the All Terrain version of the Destination, the AT2s have a 55k mileage warranty. One of the great thing about Bridgestone/Firestone is they have a 90 day buy and try. If you don't like the tire you purchase for any reason, swap it for something else within 90 days. Just make sure to buy them from a Firestone Complete Autocare or Tires Plus. If you go up in price you just have to pay the difference. I have the Bridgestone Dueller AT Revo 3s and I love them.

Blizzaks are the jam for winter. I have had them on my previous vehicle and got a set for my wife’s GTI. Incredible winter snow and ice tire. Driving them in the summer or really consistently above 40 degrees will destroy them. I will definitely be getting them for the Tacoma once it’s time to swap out the Badyears
