    This conversion is DRL SAFE.
This tutorial is for adding 2012+ Tacoma Outer Mirrors with Blinkers to non-wired models. My intentions are to show the schematic diagram and splice location. I added two 040 Plug Terminals at the O2 & O3 Connectors, then spliced into the truck harness (at the factory location).

    Tools:

    10mm Socket
    Ratchet
    3" extension
    #2 Phillips

    Consumables:
    040 Plug Terminals (82998-12670)
    Quick Splice Wire Tap Connectors
16/18 AWG Stranded Wire (20 ft. BLUE / 20ft. WHITE)

    Good Practice:
    Torque Wrench (36 in. lb.)
    Multimeter

Disconnect Negative Battery Terminal (36 in. lb.)

    2012 Blinker Side-View Mirrors
    REMOVE PANELS
Remove Left/Right Door and Kick PANELS [to include others, per your wiring route]

Locate wire harness running to rear tail lights

    Splice Wires
    GROUND White/Black Tracer
    DRIVER Blue/Black Tracer
    PASSENGER Blue/White Tracer

    Check Continuity
    then reconnect battery terminal

    ENJOY :)

Can you explain exactly what the mod is? Did it not have the side view mirror blinkers before and you changed the mirrors and wired them up? And what is DRL?

If you get 2 male repair terminals (82998-12330) or source 090 II or 2.3 II male terminals you could remove connector 1M. There you'll find two slots that match for you turn signals.

I have searched every thread but no luck with my exact situation. I have a 2013 with the door harness already wired for the signal mirror. Where do I need to go to hook them up to work?

If it's already wired, then it should also be "working". Maybe you are missing something in the question.

These are the connector coming from the door into the cab by the kick panels.

Hey I know this is an older post and I am a bit new wiring into the truck like this.
And what are the 040 plug terminals for? I tried finding videos on this on youtube with no luck yet.
    Thanks for your time!

040 terminals are required in order to properly add the missing wires for the door mirror signal. O2 & O3 are the connectors that mate to mirror harness, they are a 5 position connector with 2 slots empty.

Ok gotcha. Thanks! Totally new to this. And are you connecting this wire to a blinker wire on the mirror?
    Thank you!

    Positions 1, 2 & 3 on connector O2 & O3 are for the vertical & horizontal control of the mirror(s). 4 & 5 is the mirror turn LED.

Has anyone experienced bad wind noise after replacing side mirrors? I havent even given the blinker wiring a chance yet because after I swapped to the new mirror I am receiving terrible wind noise coming in by the mirror. I even ran silicone around the seal where it meets the body with no improvement. Ive seen other posts about wind issues on this truck, but I don’t have a whistling or humming. It just sounds like someone’s spraying an air hose inside my truck by the mirror. Fun times haha.
Any experience and info would be greatly appreciated. And yeah, I know about turning the radio up, but I’m almost 40, been working construction since I was 17, and my ears could use a break hahaha..

Thanks for your time, take care!
