A couple months ago there was a thread about bleeding the brakes with speed bleeders. Can anyone point me in the right direction or find that thread.

is your truck a 4x4? (i see you list it as a 2012 TRD Off road).

Reason i ask is the 09+ TRD OR 4x4's have a completely different master cylinder than the rest. The master cylinder in these trucks has an electric pump to boost line pressures. This pump will forcibly pump fluid to an open bleeder as long as the brake pedal is pushed.

Simply have someone put a little bit of pedal pressure down, enough to turn on the brake lights and hold you at a stop light type pressure, hold their foot there n crack the bleeder.... pressure will drop in the line and the master cylinder pump will start pumping away till you close the bleeder or the reservoir runs out of fluid (DONT LET IT DO THAT)

Moral of the story is you dont need speed bleeders on the 09+ TRD OR 4x4's (or any of the 6 lug trucks that have the electrically boosted master cylinder - i have heard reports of early 05-06 trucks with the VSC option having this master cylinder)

Look into something like a "Motive Products Power Bleeder". It holds 2 qts of fluid. i.e., it supplies brake fluid while you pump the brakes or run the elec. pump. Makes it easier for one person to do the brakes alone. P.S. I have to clamp my Motive to the Tacoma's brake fluid res.

The whole idea about the speedi bleeders is that bleeding the brakes becomes a one man job. Crack them open and the check ball keeps air from going back into the system.
