I am going down to Myrtle Beach fall bike week in a couple weeks with my family, which means I need to drive my truck and transport my bike. I normally use a small utility trailer if I need to transport my bike, but the hotel has no parking provisions for a trailer (parking garage).

I'm thinking of picking this up. Does any one have experience transporting a 545 pound Harley with one of these? With the weight of the carrier, I'll be slightly over the tongue weight rating. Thanks!

Edit: I searched and it looks like most people are using these for much lighter dirtbikes or track bikes...so I'm specificly curious about those who push the weight limits.

I bought a rear hitch carrier to haul a CRF300L. Sold it that day and went back to my trailer. Bitch to load also.
I would advise against given what you intend to do.

It also makes the truck ride and handle like shit with that much weight hanging off the back of the hitch. I’d ride the bike and have someone else drive the truck.

Fair enough. Glad I waited to order it. Thanks for the input!

How was it difficult to load? Its literally the easiest way to load a bike next to rolling it onto a trailer.

That bike is too heavy, it will be exceeding the weight of the tongue realistically unless you are using a larger truck. Will it do it, sure. Will it potentially end in disaster? Highly. I've these these BW ramps slightly bend over time where it doesn't sit as strait, and for smaller bikes generally under 450 pounds.

The moto carriers extend out beyond a typical hitch ball which is <8" maybe. The carrier goes out a good 15" roughly which offsets the weight even more and the carrier weighs almost 100 pounds itself.

if i were you, i'd load the bike into the bed sideways, crank the tailgate up as much as possible and then put on a hitch luggage carrier.

I guess my ramp was bit "less than stable". I ended up parking parallel to my driveway to gain a bit of decrease in ramp angle. I never used a hitch carrier before, so the trouble was mostly caused by me, and perhaps a cheaper hauler than the one listed above. Didn't seem very safe or secure back there (CRF300L). In fact, I never even pulled away from the house. Sold on CL.

I’ve used this ( borrowed a friends) on the back of a Gen 1 Tacoma
Had a ZX 11 back then weighs almost the same . It worked fine . The hitch should be fine. They are usually able to handle 3 times the weight they are rated for .The only thing that would get me nervous is that the weight of the bike is really being held up by the bolts holding the hitch . But every time I got to where I needed with no issue . As far as Loading it . In my opinion it was easy. I still ride now but most of the time I ride to where I’m going or I just throw it in the bed, because I never actually bought one
