I'm trying to decide to get either a black bullbat with stainless steal skid plate or a silver bull bar. I also don't know which brand. The only one I know is Westin. Where can I get the cheapest price?

    Loud as hell URD exhaust!
Are you wanting one for looks or to use as brush guard?

If you must have one black would look better on your silver truck.

Personally I'm not a fan of a bull bar on the Tacoma. But didn't want to hang a 100+ pound plate bumper with hoops off the front end either. So I had Brandon at Avid Offroad modify one of his light bars for me with perforated steel as a filller and an extra cross member. Very pleased with the results, he does fantastic work. Not the cheapest but much better than a bull bar IMO.

When I first bought my Tacoma over 2 years ago. I went and looked at Bull Bars. I did some researching and fount out(even from people from here) that Bull Bars can actually cause more damage then good(if in an accident). They are more for looks then function I think. I just want you to have all the information possible before you make a decision.

I believe the "bull bar" you did research on is really referred to as a "brush bar", aka damage-multiplier, since it is flimsy enough to bend back and damage the hood, fender, lights etc.. when simply bumping into an object. The Westin brand would fall into this category.

A real "bull bar" or "roo bar" (Aussie reference) will not bend back unless you hit something big with good force. Those bars are much beefier and bolt to the frame of the vehicle. An example of these are made by ARB and other manufactures.

While I do not have a roo-bar on my Tacoma, I had an ARB bar on my 94 landcruiser and can tell you from personal experience they do not bend when you hit a tree at 15mph. You simply stop and knock the bark off said tree.

So, to the OP, are you looking for something to simply mount lights to and are for looks, or are you looking for actual protection from deer, or other objects in your way?

I'm looking for mounting brackets for my bull bar. Totally just for looks but I will be modifying it in the future to fit a 10000lb winch. I just need the brackets. Or the specs for the brackets.

I hear ya but when you have neighbors like this it can help, and I know on the flip side it can cause more damage as well. That's my wife's old Ford.

What is the purpose of a bull bar? Just for lights? I am not hating just I don't understand their purpose.
