Hey guys, I'm new to the Tacoma and looking for a good recommendation for a black housing headlight for my 2021 SR5. I've been looking through some old threads here and there and see a lot of recommendations for AlphaRex and Morimoto. Just curious if anyone has had luck with something at a lower dollar range?

On a side note, is Yotaverse a trusted site? Thanks in advance!

Thats a good question. I know a lot of people bought the DEPO brand 2017-2019 TRD Pro headlights for ~$370 without white DRL, $800 with TRD DRL. Heres a link to those lights

You get what you pay for when it comes to headlights. I made the mistake of spending $350 on a set of spyder headlights and I literally could not drive at night because they were so dim. I have morimoto xb led headlights and they're awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion, correct me if I'm wrong but I noticed some of the other forums mention a custom wire harness is needed for the LED DRL on some headlights.
The DEPO's wouldn't need one right?

I would say that spending the $350~ to have your stock headlights BHLM'd by @no vtec 4me is the best bang for your buck. Aftermarket headlights universally suck until you spend $1000+ and even then they're still not on par with retrofitted BHLM stock headlights for the same price (or less).

    Whats your location?

Alot of the aftermarket headlights are dog shit. So be careful what you pay for.

Dang, if you were in AZ there's a really good local dude that does the bhlm.

But for reals, if you end up with a cheap set of lights, you'll regret it. Like @Snaeper said. Don't just get a set of headlights because they look good.

Depending on your goal, IMO you have two options.

If you want better lights, prepare to spend some coin.

If you want better looking lights, have someone do the BHLM or buy a cheap donor set and give it a try yourself. This was the option I went with. Im about 300 at most invested in it.

Gotcha, so BHLM would probably be my best bet.

I'll have to look around for someone that can do it up for me, I'd rather it look real clean than ruin what I have.

    Thanks for the tip!

Maybe put a feeler in this forum.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/north-east.38/

If you want real local to you.

Otherwise a drive or shipping you can hit up @no vtec 4me, just like @Snaeper recommend

His profile says he's in PA.

Thank you for your question on headlights and for asking about us as a company. We have been around since 2016 selling all kinds of aftermarket parts for late-model Toyota's and were previously named Toyota Pro Shop. We are a certified dealer for CaliRaised, Falcon Off-Road Wheels, Diode Dynamics, and AL Offroad at this time with a few more companies on the way. As for headlights, we sell a cost-effective blackout headlight with sequential turn signal on our site and they also come with a two year warranty so if anything happens to them during that time we will replace them for you at no cost.

All of the products that we offer come with a two year warranty as well so that you can purchase knowing that we stand behind what we sell. Please let me know if I can answer any more questions for you and welcome to the TacomaWorld forum!

I've never been a fan of any aftermarket headlights and had retrofits in 4 past cars. Retrofit is the best way to go imo but involves a ton of work. If you're already going to crack open the OEM headlights to do do the black housing mod, consider upgrading the projector as well. Especially in this truck, I think OEM looks best though the stock output (I have a 2018) leaves much to be desired. I may have some spare parts if you're looking into embarking into this journey.

I would love to know the local guy that you're speaking of, I'm wanting to bhlm my factory headlights but really doubt my ability to do it myself.
