I've been running this through my mind for a month now. Been thinking of a black grill surround.

I know, I know ... quick "paint" looks like shit ... others than that ... thoughts ... go ahead ... I'm thick skinned.Capture.jpg

Not bad. Some days I like my chrome. Other days I want something different. I haven't thought about black though.

    Just a few LEDs...
If it was my truck, I would blackout the headlights and color match the grill. The black grill surround makes it look like something is missing.

I have mine black but have been thinking to get it color matched, this is a old picture but I did the black headlight mod and think it looks better IMG_0135.jpg

It's not that the chrome isn't my style ... I just install pre-LED tail lights, and selling my '14 LEDs on ebay ... not a fan of the matching red surround on the Sport (as well as it's bumper) ... thanks.

This is how it currently looks, it's a little dirty haha but looks really nice when the truck is washed IMG_0577.jpg

Thanks ... so apparently I am not the only one with this mindset.

I also swapped the trendy LED taillights for earlier housings; and swapped out the OEM colour-matched (super white) grill surround for chrome too. To my 71-year-old eye the colour-matched grill made the front end look like a Highlander or 4Runner, just not "truck-like" enough for me.

Didn't cost a penny after selling the OEM stuff, I even made $10 on the grill...

Color matched all day long. Spray paint, wet sand, clear coat, wetsand, buff. Really not too hard to diy and it can turn out great. I've painted a whole front clip like that and it turned out great.

Ultimately I want a @HomerTaco grille. However, to tide me over last year I used black Plastidip on my chrome grill. Better than chrome!
