Hi everyone, was curious on others peoples take on this. My B8100 shocks had started leaking a few months ago, I dont go on any extreme terrain or rock crawling. The truck is mainly used to go up tricky trails for hunting or camping. I sent the shocks in for a warranty and got this as a reply : Screenshot_20230515-192342_Email.jpgScreenshot_20230515-192309_Email.jpgWhen I removed the shocks there were no signs of any impact on the outside of the shocks but I'm also not sure what else could have caused this. I sent a reply asking for images/proof of external damage and am waiting on a reply.

Thanks for any input on have to move forward or any theories on what happened Appreciate any help I can get on this.

From my experience Bilstein doesn't stand behind their products... I would look elsewhere for anyone who is thinking about upgrading their suspension.

Yeah I didn't update this thread as there weren't any replies but ended up getting approved for the warranty, of course after I told them I have pictures of the shock body with no visible signs of impact, they never hit anything and were correctly mounted as per their instructions.

    The tech replied with :
"There are no external impact marks on your dampers but the scoring and damage to the rod guide would indicate impact or side load. Your dampers were sent to our head Quality Engineers who re measured the dimensions of the tube assemblies. After further evaluation they were able to verify that the shock bodies are in fact not out of round and are capable of being rebuilt and serviced. Their overall consensus is that they may have been installed on the incorrect side that would cause some unintended side load. In either case, we will be replacing the damages piston rod guide and fully servicing these dampers free of charge. We will also have a technician mark the left and right side as well as clean up the body of the body of the dampers as best they can. I would like to sincerely apologize to you on my behalf for the time that this evaluation has taken, unfortunately this ended up getting multiple departs involved which not only extended our timeline but also put warranty determinations out of my hands. At this point, we will be doing everything possible to service and return these dampers to you as quickly and efficiently as possible. I will continue to be in touch a I receive further updated. Thank you for your understanding."

Still not sure how the scoring happened inside the shock, never got a reply on that, but they overhauled the shock and I got it back on the truck. Been fine since but I'll most likely being going for king shocks after this especially since I can overhaul those myself and not pay for them to be overhauled and be dealing with something like this again lol.
