As I was driving with chains in the snow, my chain broke and started slapping my fender well. Before I could get over to pull over , it ripped the reservoir hose.

Just wondering if anyone knows if bilstein or any shops will attempt to refill and fix this sort of thing?

    Thanks

If you're not in a time crunch you can send back to bilstein for a rebuild. I know there's also a conversion kit to make them rebuildable. I'm sure you could call around and see if any of the big name guys can do it. Accutune, filthy, etc...

Oh there will be some mods all right
Accutune wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. They are very knowledgeable people who sell quality products but the 5160 is a poor person shock to them lol.

Maybe, but they'd be able to point him in the right direction. Whether it be someone to rebuild or replacements.

5160 are unfortunately not a rebuildable shock. I've got one ripped apart here right now, and have been having trouble finding replacement components for it. I've heard that there are a couple of shops in Cali that will rebuild them, but it's all heresay. My .02 is that for the price point of a 5160 at $225-270 depending on the generation of the shock it's far easier to just replace.

Thanks guys, I’ll probably just buy a single 5160 and call it a day. It honestly doesn’t ride too terribly bad without it right now. I think I need to upgrade my leafs to get the full extension and shock absorption from the 5160. The stock leafs really make the truck squat on the 2013 tacoma I have and there’s not much travel because the shocks are so compressed.
