So I called my dealer and asked them about installing 5100's set to 2.5 on my 2016 I bought from them a couple weeks ago. They really weren't sure what the 5100's where or why I needed to replace "my shocks" so soon but they said since they aren't Toyota pen they would void the warranty? When I bought the truck I asked about leveling kits and they said it had to be installed by them or it would void warranty coverage on the suspension components. So my question is should I go in and try and talk to someone or call customer care or another dealer? It's hard to imagine that all these leveled/lifted trucks are not under warranty. Any insight into this situation is greatly appreciated since I'm waiting on this to be resolved to order the shocks and I'm hating life this low to the ground!

They won't hurt warranty. Find someone else to do it.

Lift Kits and Your Factory Warranty
Many truck owners are understandably concerned about how a leveling kit or lift kit will effect their warranty. There are two answers to this question:

    1. The law protects vehicle owners. The Magnusson-Moss act makes it illegal for an auto manufacturer or auto dealer to void a warranty just because a vehicle has been modified. The only way that a vehicle warranty can be effected is if the lift or leveling kit is the direct cause of a failure.

    2. Some dealers are “cooler” about lift kits than others. Some Toyota dealers view themselves as the keepers of the sacred warranty flame, and they refuse to warranty anything unless a customer yells and screams. Other dealers, wise to the ways of the world, embrace owners who install lift kits and even install after-market lift kits themselves. If you can do your new vehicle service work at a dealer who sells brand-new lifted trucks, you’ll probably never have a warranty argument about your lift kit.

If you want this question answered by a dealer, ask for the service director, don't just talk to and advisor. The answer of course is that a lift kit does not "void" the warranty. But if you wear out your ball joints or something closely related to the lift, expect them to tell you that's not covered. The dealership wants to do the work, that's how they get paid, but they are afraid to waste their time on it if they believe it's not going to end up covered and you will not do the work through them. I would expect to pay a diagnostic fee in that case, which would be waived if in fact the failure ends up covered.

I remember skimming through that in the lifted topic. I don't know why I didn't remember that. I appreciate it yall! I'll keep the originals to throw on it in the event I have a major front end problem!

I know right? That kind of concerned me. I'm hoping he was an office guy and not one of the ones in the shop but I've seen and heard some pretty scary dealer stories.
