Yes, I had the black (and blue???) Tokico shocks on my '06 base, and swapped them to the TRD bilsteins, way better for sure. I bought virtually new take-off's for a good price, so thought it was worth it. If buying new, I'd go 5100's

Is that what the stock tacoma shocks are called? I feel like the front of my truck sags a bit so i wanna replace mine with some TRD 4600's. Found some at a decent price

Tokico makes the stock, non-TRD shocks. The stock yellow and blue shocks on TRD models are Bilstein 4600's. There is definitely a noticeable difference in ride quality, but it won't effect a "sagging" front end as the 4600 is not adjustable.

Your coils are what's sagging. Look in the for sale section here. Everyone that buys new coil overs has an stock set to get rid of. Find a set that's still assembled and you'll be good to go.

OP also keep in mind keep that there is a difference between the OEM TRD yellows and the aftermarket Bilstein 4600's. The aftermarket ones will provide you with a much smoother ride while towing, hauling, and going over rough roads. Much better and beefier shock all the way around. And you should also replace those coils if it is sagging.

This is the answer. Bilstein shock that come on the truck are Toyota specs that are put together by bilstein. 4600 are designed and built by bilstein and are a better shock. 5100's are a better choice if you have the extra money.

You need to find 2016 springs. 1 inch taller.

Yes, they ride smoother because your wallet is lighter.

Is there any reason to go to either the 5100 series or the 6100 series if you are no planning any serious off roading (or lifting)

From the many notes i have read the 5100 series sounds like a 4600 series that allows for lifts.

And the 6100 series (with spring) is like 4-5X more expensive than the normal 4600 series.

Also, is it trues that the bilstein 4600 replacement shock are different that the toyota/bilstein and if so what is the difference in performance since physically they look the same?

The 4600's don't look the same as the OEM ones. The 4600's are thicker at the bottom and not pencil like as the OEM one's. Whether that makes a difference on performance...I do not know but they are valved differently. If you have no intentions of lifting, I would just get the 4600's. I am not 100% but I believe the 4600's have a better warranty then the 5100's. The 4600's were great on my 2003 for towing and carry loads. I put 1/4 spacers (1/2 lift) on my 2012 (I have airbags in the rear and wanted lessen the rake a little) and that is the highest I plan on going. I had nothing but headaches on my 03 with 5100's with OME coils and rode like absolute garbage. Not a fan of lifting for the mileage I do. You really need to decide the direction you want to go in OP before choosing.

Ride is determined by your coil springs and leaf springs.
