Recently just replaced my old stock worn out 270k mile bilsteins on my 99 TRD PRERUNNER and it appears that it is really high
Like I actually got a lift.
Now I know compared to my shot suspension it was gonna for sure lift the truck up but man it really looks high. Can’t quite seem to find stock heights people have for a stock prerunner from hub to fender.
Many say around 21” but I assume are also worn down.
That’s around where my rear sits as I didn’t do the leaf springs yet.
Yes I have bro lean how
and the perches are on correct as they came pre assembled and I saw when they are incorrect and how they look.

I’m sitting at roughly 24” in the front right now on pre assembled Bilstein 4600 with moog springs from what the website stated and it was all picked for stock OEM hight replacement. I chose no lift.

    my question…
At around 24” is this thing too high for stock and something’s up
The struts were exact same length as the stock ones I pulled out.
Will they settle an inch or so “god I hope so”
People say they settle and some not much. Maybe an alignment will also help? My wheels are angled in on the bottoms from how my truck was cause it was sagging so much
I put about 50 miles so far in two days an still high, Ima give it about 500 miles and get an alignment but for stock new fresh coil overs, they sure seem high

Did you actually measure before? 4600s with moog springs should be about stock. I'd bet they settle in.

Give it a bit to settle out, but get an alignment immediately.

Bet your old coils were just sagging bad.

It probably seems like a lift because the old springs are worn and sagged. If you replaced your old leaf springs, it'll seem like you lifted it too.

yeah, it was a pinch higher than The rear and my rear now I think is around 21
Still same hight because i didn’t do the leafs yet and was gonna wait a little
But the front is NOTICEABLY higher to where bro lean is a bit much so I may have to do the rear leafs sooner just have to make sure I get the right ones cause my front is high I feel for stock, or maybe it’s just me…

My old ones yes were completely toast being original at 270k
    I really hope they settle
I’ll align in a few hundred miles in hopes they settle down, but I’m afraid they won’t change.

I’d end up maybe like general springs for Oem hight in rear but I hope that would lift it enough just to factory so I don’t have bro lean anymore
I’ll need at least 3” in the back
If the front is correct and just how these trucks were stock then damn they rode pretty high considering…

Many install the perches upside down and report this.

I went with GSK rear leafs on my 1st gen. It seemed like it raised it because my factory springs had over 300K miles on them but I have 5100's with OME 880 springs on a 2.7 so I have a little bit of stance also.

    Interesting
If anything I like the front lower but I’m opposite now
I’m hoping someone knows what the stock height of an unworn suspension is in these trucks and if it’s around 24 and if people have experienced settling coil overs in a few hundred miles/couple weeks… that’s my only hope that they settle an inch or so

I am pretty sure General Springs, Dorman, and Huskey springs are all the same. They all have the 90-23x part number.

You'd basically have to go back in time at this point.

Yeah me too. I was hoping the 5100 w/ OME 880 would have been either level at most but it didn't. I don't want to spend more money to replace the spring at this point. I may eventually do a 1" rear lift with an AAL or shackle, but its not a priority since its my daily driver

It's been stated already but you may have missed the posts - coils support the weight of a vehicle thus providing your "lift"

Your coils were so bad, you didn't notice that over time, your vehicle height got lower and lower.

New coils are just bringing your vehicle back up to where it was when new, and unless you bought it brand new and have a picture of it (and measurements), you will never know how it originally sat.

Also, since your coils are new you'll have to put a good thousand miles or more until they begin to really settle.

Your shocks had nothing to do with your vehicle height unless they had an adjustable perch, which 4600s don't.

Where did you get Moog springs assembled with 4600's? I've been looking but striking out.

Where are you measuring the 24" mark? I'm a bit new to this.

I can tell you that when I put the new 4600's on the back with the original springs, it was a bit higher than with the worn shocks, but it has since leveled out with some driving.

yea I know it’s the springs that hold the weight of the vehicle in which gives lift
And I’m certain I lost a few inches in my old springs
Just surprised at how high it looks
And how much it must have sagged
These trucks were pretty high with the factory trd suspension

I was measuring from the center of the hub to fender for actually lift.
And I found them on suspensionlifts.com
The full set front and rear with fronts assembled
Looks like now that it’s sold out though

just shocks in the rear gave no lift if maybe a hair since the shocks are a little stiffer from the completely dead ones on my trucks but the leafs are what give lift, those are flat so no lift in rear and I gained a couple inches in the front from just getting it back to stock

    Yeah.

These trucks are old, with the newest 1st Gen being over 19 years old.

Many people (generally speaking) don't replace suspension components thinking they're still good just because they're not physically broken. That's not the case which is why shocks are suggested to be replaced every 50k miles; coils vary but they do last longer than shocks.

Blows my mind when people come in asking "what shocks?" only to state that they're still on the original suspension.

Mostly stock - but I do have a suction cup phone holder - its pretty sweet
I replaced my shocks with 4600s at only 185k miles or so. My truck did settle in and looks great now. Hopefully it isn't too high for you!
