So I’m writing this up because I’m wondering what’s the biggest sized off-road type tire i can get on my 18 Taco sport without a lift. Talking to the dealer he mentioned that a lift will void the warranty so i was thinking about getting the tires now then lifting it later. I’d like to keep the tires when i lift it too, so I’m really looking to maximize the size of the tire for now while i keep it stock height. Anyone got any thoughts on this?
    Thanks in advance!

    The biggest tire you can go on a 3rd gen for a 16" wheel is a 255 85 16 with no lift and that's a true 33" tire. Also on a 17" I believe you can go a 255 80 17 on stock suspension!

If you don't want to go with the pizza cutters(255/85 or 255/80) then you can go 265/75r16 or 265/70r17. Most people report both sizes to fit with no rubbing or trimming on a stock suspension

Yea i got 17” Fuel rims on it. And I’m very much intending on not having to do any cutting on the body. Thanks gents! Y’all were very helpful! @moe2o4 @304_Taco

Ya not sure it all depends on your backspacing and offset of those wheels!

Those sizes they gave are with stock wheels. With aftermarket wheels, all bets are off.

@sorgon82 you get a natural lift out of those tires right? Considering they’re naturally bigger than stock

@hiPSI @ManBeast thats some good info y’all. I purposely got bigger rims (9” wide) so i could add bigger tires. I guess I’ll have to see how it plays out. Def don’t want any rubbing tho

My 265/70/17 rub at full turn when the suspension compresses, hitting a driveway apron or a dip off-roading, going at a decent speed 10-15mph+

    Other than that, no issues.

Pushing the centerline of the tire away from the body goves you a greater chance of rubbing. Good luck!

@hiPSI for real? And here i was thinking it would reduce the chance since it’s sticking farther out! FML. Lol

Yeah, it does seem counterintuitive but it's the truth lol. I tell people to go out, cut your wheels all the way left or right and look at how much clearance you have before your tire will hit. Now imagine the tire edge was out a half inch or an inch. That visualization helps to understand a measurement called "scrub radius."

    I'll add with stock wheels.

I have 265/75/16 on Method Standards, and I'm rubbing on the mud flaps if I am turning and compressing the suspension at the same time (turning while going over a speed bump for example)
