My truck is stock 265/75 R16.
I've run Goodyear Duratrac's, Grapplers, Firestone Destination MT2's.
I have 650 acres here in Alabama and I'm often in the red mud clay so I want a mud tire BUT I'm mostly on the hwy so I need the tire to last on the road to.
I have no doubt the KM3's will do great in the mud but wanted to see if some of you can tell me how they wear on the road before I drop big $.

    Thanks guys

I am on my second set of KM3's and love them. The only concern I ever had was on snow/ice but I bought a set of chains for both sets. The first set were 305/70r16 and they were on for 24k miles. They were balanced and rotated every 5k and I sold them with plenty life left. The second set are 315/75r16, they have 9k miles and have been rotated once. They are not very loud for mt's but you have to stay on top of the maintenance. I've seen a few trucks that have worn uneven km3's and they sound terrible on the road.

I've went through one set of KM3's. They were... pretty good tires. Like the above user said it is very important to do frequent rotations to get the most money out of them. But the same could be said for any mud terrains. I had a set of 5 so my spare tire was rotated in with every rotation. I got about 30k miles out of them before I noticed a significant level of performance drop off. I think after running two other sets of cheapo mud terrains after them that while I did not feel a noticeable performance difference in the mud/ dirt but both sets of the cheaper tires where louder. Not by much but it was noticeable especially as the cheaper tires got more miles on them. Durability wise there was nothin to report on any set of tires... I picked up screws in all sets and after plugging there was no issue. All sets I ran low pressures when offroad and also no issues there.

This brings me to my final point which is the price of the KM3's. BFgoodrich is proud of their product and they demand a pretty price tag. I bought both sets of the cheaper tires for slightly less than one set of the KM3's. To me the KM3's are not worth the price they ask. Unless you can get them for a good deal. However if money really isn't an issue for you and you like the way they look or have an affinity for BFG then I'd say go for them. I don't think they would disappoint anyone assuming you're willing to commit the money.

I would also suggest looking at the KO2's as in my experience they perform great in mud, they're generally cheaper and they last a lot longer especially since you said you're mostly on the highway cuz that will eat the KM3's alive compared to the KO2's. Just speaking from my personal experiences here and of course everyone's experience will vary. Good luck.

I will second that recommendation for the KO2s, I live in AZ so I don't see too much mud, but every time I've been in it they perform great. The set that were on the truck when I bought it had over 80,000 miles on them, and they still did great with traction. If you rotate them and treat them right, KO2s will last a loooong time.

    good info.
My co worker has the K02's and loves them. I'm looking really at the KM3's and some Falken Wildpeak M/T's. I can get the wildpeaks for $100 cheaper than the KM3.

    Thank you

My friend put wildpeak mt's on his jeep and it was shedding complete lugs off the tires

K02 don’t like mud. Get stuck on the thread. Atleast from when we went out.

subbed, bc everybody and their mom seems to be running wildpeaks! Hell, 4 4runners at my workplace are running them, along with my neighbor's taco, but i'm curious about the road noise most of all due to a long commute

I’ve been in some pretty bad mud and my KO2s pulled through. Right Air pressure helps any tire in those situations

I've stopped every KM3 tire on the road to see what they think of the tire, some say "ehh" some love them, I think a lot of it has to do with the $ when I hear the "ehh". I've only seen two trucks with Wildpeak M/T's and both heavy trucks, both said they loved them but they looked new (everybody loves a new tire).
Still swaying towards the WP MT's but could change my mind. Talking $150 difference.

My local owned tire store prices for my Tacoma and my sons.
This is out the door, tax and all

    265/75/R16
    Wildpeak M/T's $1140
    BFG KM3's $1298

    31x10.50/R15
    Wildpeak M/T's $900
    BFG KM3's $1086

KM3's are made in the usa vs wildpeaks made in thailand.

This is similar to what my friend experienced on very easy trails after a few times of use.

Are you running a 15" wheel on your 06? Does that clear the brakes?

I am 34K into my first set of KM3's: 255/85r16. They are great tires. I don't worry about cuts or damage. Air down nicely. Were quiet for about 20k and now they let you know they are there. Rotated regularly at @ 2k miles. Heavy. Shed mud well and are absolute junk in the snow (Wisconsin owner here...), so if running snow and ice I would get them sipped. I will probably go a different route for my next set of tires... not disappointed, just want a skinny 35.

Here is a view of the squish on a 10 psi tire from last weekend. Mud hole to rock climb and high centered. Tires worked great!
