Anyone running BFG HD Terrains? Wondering how they ride and if they would be louder on the highway compared to the Geolandar M/T

100% would be quieter than the Geo M/T

Havent ridden them but any hybrid or commercial tire is quieter than the quietest mud terrain in my experience. The Geos are loud from day one, I've installed a few.

What purpose for them? I'd consider the KT for remote services, forestry roads and standard offroading.

Just for the occasional off road trip. I'm looking for a 255/80/17 and options were somewhat limited. Trying to figure out the right balance of aggressive tread without having to suffer from a loud hum on my 12 mi highway commute. I was leaning toward the HDs because they were TA but wasn't sure since they're heavier. Couldn't find many reviews on them either. I have 265/70/17 (C load) K02s now so if they HDs ride similar to the K02 I'd be happy.

Again no direct experience, but typically tires like the KT or Toyo CT/RT or have really hard tread and will get loud, just not as loud as a M/T

I'd push for an A/T tire in that size personally if you commute, the Falkens are my first choice for highway, they are way quieter than even the tame Toyo AT3.

Otherwise I'd go cooper ST Maxx, they are cheaper, just as aggressive as the KT and have a good following on here.

Worst tire I ever had in the snow.

On BFG's site they say the HDs were engineered for HD trucks.

Honestly most offroad tires are awful in the snow. Gotta lean towards all terrain to get any decent performance. I have no idea how some people drive in cold climates with M/T's or tires like STT's.

I have STTs on my Tacoma they will slide around in the cold and wet. I've been switching to AT3s or BFG ATs since I got them but haven't done so. Mostly because of the weight than anything. I had an Econoline bounce off of them once, so I guess they weren't all bad. Not a mark on the truck, most have been the bumper of the van hitting the side wall of the tire.

When I had the BFG AT KO2 on my Tacoma they would never stay balanced for more then a week or two at a time. They ended up being warrantied and I went with the Cooper STMaxx and they did Great in the snow and mud. I am now running the Cooper Discoverer ATP and so far I like them.
