Hi! I have a 2017 Tacoma Off-Road with stock tires (265/70R/16). I want to purchase a new set of BFG all-terrian K02 tires for it. Everything I've read on the tires it sounds like I need to stick with C load. I was looking at getting the 265/70R/17 C load but want to make sure they fit.

Anyone have recommendations on what size? Thanks!

A 265/75/16 will be the same basic size as a 265/70/17, but I think KO2's are only available in load D or E in that size. There are probably other tires offered in load range C or even SL if you're looking to keep it light.

Should I go with the E load in that size then?

You will take a hit to mpg for sure. If you drive in harsher off road conditions they are worth it. The side walls are very durable and you can air them down pretty low with confidence.[/QUOTE]

If you value on road ride comfort, E load are not advisable. You can air them down to help, but that further hurts mpg and makes handling feel mushy. They are a good all around A/T tire, otherwise. Good road manners. Mediocre in the snow in my experience, though.

I have 265/75/16 on stock rims with ko2 E rated. The ride is def stiffer but the tires are great. I never worry about sidewall punctures. They are a workhorse tire. Depends how you use your truck

I would stick with SL and more tame tread pattern unless you like road noise and lower mpg. Some of the aggressive tires can be scary on the freeway in the rain/snow too.

E rated in smaller trucks is more for offroading over rocks etc to lower the odds of a flat.

    What are you looking for?

    Comfort? - SL tire
    Durable / less comfortable - C Load
Most Durable / least comfortable -E Load.

I myself have ko2’s in a E load (275/70r17), and can attest that I still have all my fillings in my teeth, contrary to what TW will lead you to believe. Just cause it’s stiff, doesn’t mean it’s a crap ride... just means it’s going to not soak up expansion joints as well. What it will do though, is give you more peace of mind when the rocks get sharper, and you get further away from people.

Oh, and yes MPG will take a hit, I think I max out when doing 100% highway at 17-18mpg.

A lot of people here like Falken Wildpeak AT3. Great tire, less expensive.
265/75-16 is a inch bigger and will fit fine. I love mine.

Second this statement. I've had the Wildpeaks in 265/75-16 on my OR since Sept and they've performed great so far. They're much lighter than the KO2's in the same size (E-rated), I think 13 lbs lighter per tire if I remember...
