I've haven't had the best experiences with waipahu service. buying the truck was no problem. mapunapuna parts department is cool and i heard windward service department is good. so maybe we gotta buy from waipahu, service at windward, and order parts from town.

if you decide to go back to the same sales guy let him or her know that the header rail, bed mat, mud flaps, and running boards would help make you forget the inconvenience and frustration. if not, go to another dealership.

That is the exact way I'm going, my son will be going to Waipahu tomorrow to order it, service mind in 2K (5K Service) Windward. Oh! Mapunapuna sales guy said he would throw in a bed mat if I went back to him, Hah! Never there again.

I am sorry, but you are one person and a place the size of Servco doesn't care about you. I have been saying this a lot on here: Salesmen, especially floor salesman, don't care about any sale they cannot make TODAY. If they reserve you a vehicle in there allocation, they don't make a fucking dime TODAY. These people only care about sales they can make TODAY.

I shopped around for months from August to November of 2015. I made contact with over 100 dealerships. Many refused to speak about 'ordering' a truck. Many refused to agree to prices before a truck came in . some offered prices that were 5000 over msrp. Many had unfriendly sales people who didn't want to order a truck, even after being shown proof that others had ordered the same truck a month before. A couple tried to sell me trucks from other lots which I knew were already sold....

My wife randomly called a dealership near where she grew up. They were 120 miles away. The day she called, they had a white 7568 come into allocation. That was the exact truck we wanted. She texted me during work and we drove out there, 250 miles round trip, to put a 500 dollar deposit down. The only reason these people wanted to 'order' us a truck was because they were from the Internet department. Regular salesman don't want to wait 26 days for a sale to be made. They want their commission TODAY.

These same salesman will find any truck on the lot to sell to someone who walks into the show room TODAY.

It's a shot world. Call corporate and let then know. We got our truck for 500 under msrp, which was and is a great price on this area for a unicorn like the 7568

And I'll add, I had one great dealership offer to order whatever I wanted for 250 over invoice but the wait was going to be 6 months.

Corporate is my next step but I know nothing will change things, I just want to have my say and put it out there.

Windward, Waipahu, and Mapunapuna are all Servco. They literally have a monopoly on Hawaii. Sounds like your son had an inexperienced salesman. A deposit would've held the truck. I got my truck at servco and the salesman looked in the system for an available truck. While sitting down at the computer he could tell me what was available and what was reserved. If a $500 deposit is put on a vehicle it is locked in.

On a side note, I have dealt with the manager at servco Honolulu, he is a shithead.

You can buy from mainland. After 1k-1.5k for shipping, you still pay equal or less then Shitco. I don't believe the scheduled maintenance is still covered, but it's easier to get exactly what you want too. I'm planning on doing this for '17 4Runner.

I had no problems there. When I ordered my truck, they gave me paperwork with the VIN, shipped date, est. delivery date and everything, I had to wait a little over a month. Chung even called me every week or more to give me updates and to see if I had any questions. The day my truck was delivered he called me when it got to the lot, and said it would be ready in a few hours and no shit it was. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience OP. It sucks we only have 3 of the same dealers on the island to deal with.

Yups X2 on a deposit. Ryan(Honolulu) helped me out big time on getting a 15 Pro in Inferno. I was pretty much dead set in getting a TRD Sport 4X4 since they didn't want to get any Pro models in. Ones management changed their mind he called me right away if I wanted to jump on it. Of course I took it haha.

Imho I think it's all about the salesman on how your experience is going to be. Either they wanna work with you on what you want to get, or they want to make a quick sale.

Happy for you but Ryan is the sales guy that fell a sleep along with the manager (Mostly Earl's fault) on my son's truck. I'm not trying to take away a persons ability to make a living selling vehicles but they need to get their SHI_ together. My truck and my son's were on the lot and they did not even know it till it was too late. Luckily I saw mine with the matching VIN. Ryan told my son when we were there that he would waive the deposit and that we would pay it when the truck arrived. I trusted him because he came highly recommended, but Damm! we never saw this coming. Auwe!

I went thru Servco Windward and the experience was pretty good. I got what I wanted, put down my deposit and I was kept in the loop every step of the way. I guess I was lucky because I have heard similar stories regarding Servco. Yelp is a good place to read and it gave me a good idea of what to expect, who to avoid, what questions to ask and it ensured me that I had all my bases covered.

That said, I know for a fact though getting service will be like scheduling a wedding or baby luau--you basically got to do it a year in advance.

Sounds like one of you entrepreneur type guys with the money or credit should look into opening a decent dealership on the islands.

You'd have to have ALOT of cash or get the law involved somehow, shitco has too much of a monopoly on Toyota/Lexus

Sorry for your horrible experience. Servco should compensate you in one form or another for what they did. Almost twice!

I too hate going to servco. Too add to your frustration...

The first time I went there to check out the taco, they took my name down and made me wait 45 minutes. After 45 min they told me sorry we are really busy come back in the evening when we aren't busy. Left irritated and went to Honda to window shop for fun lol.

Second time I went to look at the taco and a possible rav4. Forgot the salesman but some local older japanese guy. I asked him technical questions about the rav4 and taco and he his response was..."Huh. I didn't know that" or "Not that I know of." Not even a "Well let me find out for you." Then on the test drives he gives me the keys and doesn't even try to tell me about the vehicles. He sits there saying make a left here, make a right, we just sold x amount of the taco this week, and ok back to the parking lot. In the end he has the nerve to tell me...so what do you think? Shall we talk numbers? Never had a follow up call from him either.

Third time, this local sales guy tells me..."O good you already test drove the taco last year. Lets sit down and I can give you prices to make a deal." And now he calls me weekly to try and get me to come in and purchase. I'm still to this day on the fence but it seems like I can't get a salesman that is either knowledgeable, willing to find out, or is not trying to just get commission from my sale.

Even my sister was misquoted $150 less on the monthly payments. They caught it after the fact she signed papers and it was a done deal. So she wasn't thrilled that she has to pay $150 more per month than what she was actually quoted. All the apology she got was sorry that was a different person that did the paperwork.

Funny how there's such a monopoly down here. They really don't care if you buy or not because in the end if you really want a toyota, you have to buy from them.

Ok TW, went with my son today to Servco Waipahu and he ordered his TRD OR 4x4 DCSB MT6 for the second time but from what I call a lot better sales person (Jacob) and a more personable dealership. I feel we are in good hands with them and after hearing of my son's experience with Honolulu they were shocked but not surprised of their who cares attitude. They explained the process from A to Z and puts the blame most likely on the Manager for the screw up.$500 deposit down and now 3 months of wait and staring at the mods in the garage waiting for it.

That sucks man on the initial BS. Glad you hopefully found a good salesman. I feel you on the dealership pains. I think quite a few Toyota dealerships should shape up and change their act to be honest. I'm going on 11 weeks wait for my truck and they just told me it's going to be another month and a half. Idk if this is just this dealership but all the other ones in the area told me the same story of it taking forever if I order something that isn't as popular and isn't on their lot. Any more delays and I'll have a 2018 lol.
