Hello there to everyone. Just wanted to quickly let everyone know to be very aware that mices are able to get into your factory air intake box this was discovered today when I brought my car to the dealership today they pointed it out to me I will be sharing pictures on how I fixed it and also the damage that they did luckily no harm was done to my engine just a little plastic he end up here and there. What I used to fix it was the top of the old air filter which is almost like a chicken wire. To loosen up the hose of the air intake was a 10 mm and to get the air intake box out of the hood was three. One more thing you will see and one of the photos that you are actually looking at the hole where the intake box actually goes into the filter you can see the covering from the fender from the other side what protects it from any water or dirt splashing back into the back of the fender there are using that plastic cover as a major highway to get into the air filter. Hope this helps out everyone or anyone going through it. Take care and God bless 20171211_134826.jpg 20171211_134844.jpg 20171211_134826.jpg 20171211_134844.jpg 20171211_134908.jpg 20171211_134931.jpg 20171211_135230.jpg 20171211_134826.jpg 12 mm bolts two in the inside of the box and one on the side of the box.

Nice fix! It's also been posted that mice and rats like the wiring on our Tacos so beware of that as well.

Soon, deer will discover how delicious the body paint is, and start licking it off the fenders. :(

You are not too far from the truth- Search for “Cow Licking incident” on my posts...

As for mice, I ended up spraying down my engine with water and sprinkled cayenne pepper all over it before it dried.

If I were so blessed to have a garage to park my truck in I would have half dozen traps along with rat/mouse poison all in my garage.

I had mouse tracks all over mine the morning after a day of off-roading - we were camping. Luckily, my wires are safe but heck, some here had very bad damage from rats and mice.

Yeah I read the threads about mice. Here in the projects there are several feral cats running around along with a Cooper's hawk or 2. Don't think a mouse stands a chance. I do have to rap on my fender liner with my pocket knife to make sure no cats are sitting on my motor before I start my truck. My Tacoma thrashed the hell out of one this past May. Lucky no damage to my truck. Can't say that about the cat though.

Kind of random, but has anyone who has used the fluid film had issues with mice? Maybe with the more slippery surfaces they have less paths they can travel? Pure conjecture though.

I’ve had no critters since using it. I even had a 4ft black snake try to home up in the grill area of my 16 Tacoma I had, I chased him out, and no critters since using fluid film. But I guess only time will tell!

You have fairy diddles in your area? Pretty cool! But not if they are using your truck as a nest box, I guess. Worst thing about them plaguing your truck would be that it would be going on for 12 months a year since they don’t hibernate!

Just checked my truck engine compartment. No chewed wires but did see some larger foot prints across the top of the motor. Like squirrel large.
