Don't know if this is the best place to ask, but what the hell.

I need to transport a 27cf refrigerator, and I have a DCSB. What do you all suggest to be the best way to secure the fridge to the bed?

("gorilla glue" and "duct tape " are probably not going to be helpful answers. :) )

I'd say if you're fine with leaning it, I would lean it out on top of the tail gate. Throw either a ratchet strap or a rope and give it a good knot pulling the roof of it (which will be leaning out over the tailgate)towards the bed. That would anchor it against the corner of the bed right up against your cab. Next I'd throw two more ties on the bottom of the fridge each pulling it in directions opposite from each other. And finally two more ties near the top also pulling it in two opposite directions. Quick note, I would wrap the straps/ropes pulling in opposite directions around the doors to prevent them from opening. That's how I would do it.

Leaning is not advised at all.

Not good for the refer or the truck tailgate.

    Rent a uhaul.

Not only does it have a ramp, it has tie down slats. You can get the fridge in the truck more easily and more importantly secure it better.

Upright two straps one over the top one around the side. Make sure whoever's loading doesn't drag it on your tailgate! They tore my tailgate cap the f up.

The only safe way you’re moving it in a Tacoma truck is slowly. I just don’t see a good way to secure something heavy and tippy like a fridge.

Do you think those tie downs are strong enough to keep a fridge stable?

Ratchet straps and secure it to the front of the bed. I have moved a few that way in my 2nd gen.

Why can’t you remove all the interior shelves and drawers then tranport it with it lying on the side or back? Assuming of course it is properly wrapped with moving blankets and secured.

It's not good for the components to be laying flat. I have seen a few fridges die that way. Plugged it in and it no longer works.

Laying it on the side can cause the compressor oil to travel away from the compressor. So if you do this, you should leave it unplugged for 24 hours once it’s upright again.

Yea, a uhaul covered trailer or truck is cheap and safer.

Yep, a professional moving company moved my parents belongings from the beach to their new house 200 miles away. They forgot to move the refrigerator so they sent someone with a pickup truck to get it the next day. He put it flat on it's back for the trip and once he arrived at their new house, he moved it inside and immediately plugged it in. Next morning, the temp inside was 65 degrees and the compressor was no longer working. The "professional" moving company bought Mom & Dad a new fridge the next day.

Mainly because it probably is taller than the bed is long, and it’s much easier to load/unload in vertical position.
