I bought the color-match toyota marker off Amazon. The color is too dark if I just fill it in because it would build up too thick and dry. But i would paint the scratch and wipe it off a few seconds later with a cloth, repeat a few times until only the scratch would fill in to the shade I like. Then buff and wax the area. Not as good as a pro, but was pretty inexpensive.

    Stock and staying that way
    Small dents can be PDR’d.

I’ve never found touch up paint to look any better than the scratch or chip.

I got backed into in my passengers door very early on in ownership. Wasn't too bad and the lady was nice. In 5 years I probably won't even remember it haha.

Yep, touchup paint or pen is one thing for minor scratch's, but dents need a body shop.

Nope, but if anything, it protects the exposed metal from rust and contaminants

Do something before rust. I’m in the (slow) process of fixing 1 of 2 chips turned rust on my roof. I’m going a bit extra in hopes of a less noticeable/lasting fix.

I choose the easier of the two but what started as a visible ball point pen size rust chip ended up being pencil eraser sized when done. Layered it etch, high build, ez base , touchup paint. Used all sem. Need to do a (hopefully) last knock down and clear still. I didn’t take a before unfortunately to show the small size but I got a during (same picture just zoomed out/in). Just remember if you quote me… my truck not yours and I’m not asking for your opinion

The other chip is on the edge near windshield and I already did a quick/dirty sand rust and touchup over the summer and it’s starting to bubble hence my test of going extra on this one.

Chips and dents give a truck character.

Someone in another thread suggested vasoline, but only at night time. Granted, that was for a cracked dash, so not sure if it'll work for this. I'm pretty sure it's worth a try tho... Throw some vaseline on it, wrap it in a car cover, check on it in the morning. Rejuvenated.
