what is the best way to check fuel pressure on an 04 3.4? My truck won’t stay running. Starts and immediately putters out, so I need to find out if the fuel pump is bad.

O'Reilly has a tool loaner program that will allow you to test it for nothing.

The way it works is you pay for it as if you were buying it and if you return it within the time frame they will reimburse you in full for it.

Or if you know someone with a shop, they all have computer readers that will give you your fuel pressure reading.

Or you can buy your own LOL...

You can go to any auto parts store and get one of these for $50

Scangauge II will give you fuel pressure and a lot of other important OBDII engine info as well.

New they are now running $130, but if you have time you can bid on one used in good shape off ebay for half that.

    I have the scangauge II

I do have an SGII already. I’m a 1st Gen so no go for FP. If there’s an Xcode for it I’ve missed it.

Scan tools don't show fuel pressure, don't buy one for this specifically.

Very few vehicles actually register fuel pressure, shy of modern direct injection.

It's difficult to check pressure on the 3.4, you either use a banjo fitting on the fuel rail (special service tool)

Or you thread a specific line into the pressure side near the oil fill cap, but its difficult to match this as well.
