I have read a few of the past forums about this but none are recent. Anyone have suggestions what topper to buy? I’ll mostly be using it for camping. My truck is a TRD SPORT DCLB Super white if that makes any difference lol

If you are going to sleep in there, you'll appreciate a little more headroom from a mid-rise. Also, vented windoors are nice.

Leer, ARE or Snugtop are all top tier brands. Can't go wrong with any of them. Find out which one has the closest dealer/installer near you. All offer a wide range of options and accessories. A mid-rise is nice for a little extra headroom.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
What @Ainapo and @Sig45 said. I went with a Leer 180 for the second time (1st with my '06 TRD OR AC, 2nd with my current '21 TRD OR AC) with a rooftop rack. Highly recommend a midrise for the extra head room. If you can't stand upright on your knees without hitting your head it'll be a PITA.

I love my Snugtop Sport Highliner. Fits tight (definitely depends on who installs it), no leaks. About $3100 with sportsman pkg (reinforced roof and rack for fishing poles), sliding side windows with dog proof screens and fold down front window (must have if you want to keep the rear cab window clean and locks that engage when i lock the truck with my fob.20220129_124454.jpg

I have a Leer on my '20 long bed. I have sliding side windows w/screens, lift has keyless lock/unlock, the front window has a slider and folds down for cleaning, felt headliner, and an LED light strip connected to battery. Looks nice, comparably priced to others and lots of options. However...

When it rains and when I wash it, the floor of the bed is wet. No, I don't know where the water comes in. Otherwise, if you go down dirt roads, the inside is full of dust. Also, less than 2 years old and my struts for the lift gate failed...completely. Ordered replacements for about $40 through Amazon. The struts fail is a disappointment.Oh and I forgot, my keyless entry doesn't work when it gets in the "teens" and I have to find the key I otherwise never use. Lame.

The rest doesn't bother me so much since I usually just haul cased rifles, fishing, and other outdoor gear that doesn't matter. But if I were camping in it, it would be a real pisser. Be aware and buy accordingly.:cheers:

I have an ARE CX (cab height). I like it a lot. The caps are all comparable in quality, there’s always good ones and bad ones in every brand. Figure out what you want. If you think you might want something, get it. I went all out on mine, sportsman’s windoors both sides, fold down window, carpet, led light, roof rack rails and Yakima aero bars. The only thing I could have don3 without were the aero bars as I out a rack on. Prices vary a lot. I drove 400 miles round trip to get mine because it was about $1000 less than dealers in my area and the reputation of the small town dealer was great. Install is important and they did a great job on mine to get it lined up perfect, weatherproof and wired up nicely.

I’ve also been shopping for a cap… I was interested in this so called “smart cap” idea, they look kinda cool. Too bad the locks are less than smart, that and far too many reports of them leaking…
Zeroing in in a Leer now, had them before with no issues!
