    Hello there, I recently bought a 2019 tacoma trd pro and just joined this forum. My truck came with a set of cheap 16 inch tires. I am going to replace them with all trail tires. I would like to know the following;
    1) what is the best tire size for daily and for simple to medium difficulty trail off-roading? 16 inch or 17? They will installed on stock wheels.
    2) Which tire brand or type would you recommend?

These questions may have been posted on the forum in the past but I was not able to locate any.

    Thanks,

I just put some Falken WildPeaks on the wife's Subaru. They look good, and feel great driving. Mind you I've put less than 10 miles on them.
We don't do crazy off-roading but when we hit back-roads or forest service roads it will be nice to know the tires will be generally up to snuff.

Reasonably priced, good reviews. I'm now thinking of a set for my 2021 Tacoma, probably in December.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Im a 16” guy. I’m currently at 265/75r16. I recommend that size or 255/85r16. Cheers

Maxxis Razr AT, I switched to those from Falken Wildpeaks and couldn’t be happier. They’re cheaper, weigh less, are quieter, and perform better in the wet also 3 peak snow rated if that matters to you.

You're going to have a bad time if you try to install 17's onto the stock wheels. The stock tires are all terrain tires. Assuming this is what you have, they are more than adequate for what you're looking to do (depending on the amount of wear) and they're not exactly "cheap tires."

That being said, if you're still looking to change them out, I've had pretty good success with my Cooper Adventurer AT3 4S tires. Currently at about 70k miles on them and will likely replace them this fall. Undecided if I'll go with another set, but I'm currently leaning toward going back to the stock tires for a smoother highway ride.

Stock tire size will be fine, you just need to pick your flavor.

A little of this and a little of that.
Welcome to TW! Congrats on getting a nice truck.

If all you will be traveling on is medium difficulty trails, you can stay with the stock size. Check out this link and find a tire and size that you like and is in your budget.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
X2, what he said :) can’t go wrong with either size and the I agree on the tire brand. These trucks don’t like taller or heavy tires at all. Get the lightest weight one you can find. You only need the heavy ass ones when your gonna beat the ever loving shit out of them.

I just swapped out my 2 front GY duratrac tires for some Falken Wildpeaks Sl (Due to the Duratrac getting a nail in the sidewall :frusty:)

The Wildpeaks are so much quieter on the Freeway for sure- but I haven't been able to take em out on a trail to see how they do.

@Jafours many forum members have used and recommend the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W as well as the Toyo Open Country A/T3. Both have a well mannered on road drivability with 3PMS rating for off road use as well. DM coming your way. @Built2Ride thank you for the recognition.
