Hello tacoma owners. Which suspension is the best for for daily drive and moderate off road like dirt trails, gravel roads, mud trails or terrains, trails that have dips. Give me yall opinions.
    Thanks

Capable but maybe not so comfy.

What I've done for my last 2 trucks, mostly cause I'm in school still, Is watch the various marketplaces for used coilovers (king, icon, Fox, etc), to pop up. Then I get them rebuilt and use them, takes some patients but can be worth it.

I would say the stock suspension rides very nice on road and is still very capable off road especially for the majority of tacoma owners. I've actually got fox elite's waiting to be installed and I was able to get them 20% off with free shipping. The fox 2.5's are way more than I need, but wanted them so I bought them. :notsure:

This is just my 0.02 so take it with a grain of salt

Rock the stock setup - until/if you find the means necessary to change the components.

For example; right off the bat I knew stock height/tires (245s) would not take me fishing for where I live. So I did an OME/Bilstein 3” on 32s. Ran that for a bit. Started venturing in places that I needed more clearance and ultimately broke my Bilstein 3” front strut..

I live in Hawaii and you know us Hawaii folks - boom. 6 fucking inch subway I went.

Ran that setup on 33s till I killed the OME Dakar leaf pack.

Long story short, now I’m on 35s, geared, on board air, custom Alcan leaf pack and a whole bunch of other stuff.

So I’ll repeat myself. Use your stock stuff till you run the capabilities out of it. Then you’ll know what you’re looking for. Heck, you might not need a leaf pack, you might not need reservoir shocks…but you’ll find out ;)

Since you didn't mention anything about budget, the answer is Kings.

If you're budgeted, ToyTech. Bilstein. I've ran both these options and get a very street friendly, offroad capable drive experience.

I'm sure many other brands are as good or better

I know this is your opinion and I respect that,
But I’ll favor fox all day over kings.

this article is what swung me in that decision. For those that deal with salt, might wanna dive into it as well

Stock is fine if you have an Off Road Taco. Whatcha got???

Regardless, 2/1" Bilstein 5100's are the best bang for the buck, and as per Bilstein's recommendations, you keep the OEM coils.

I want to try and go with Dobinsons MRR’s in the future based on the research I have done, they seem to be top notch.

I went with Dobinsons MRR's. I waited six years before I lifted it.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Dollar per dollar Bilstein 6112s and 5160s cannot be beat. There are better options but at significantly more cost. If you cannot afford 6112 and 5160 you can also toss on Bilstein 5100s front and rear which are a solid affordable upgrade.
