My 3rd Gen is at 60k and needing shocks; bumpy as hell, plus brake nosedive is annoying as hell. I have a 4x4 Off-Road, so shocks ain't awesome to begin with...

In any case, what are the suggestions for best suspension for mostly road traveling in very bad maintained bumpy roads and light off-roading? I want to maintain stock height but want a very smooth ride.

Note: I have an 06 Prerunner in which I installed OME with Dakars and that is butter smooth everywhere I go... however it did raise that truck about 2-3 inches, in this one I do not want to raise it.

Been looking at 5100s... but im afraid they will be just as bumpy as stock.

    All advice welcome!

5100's on low perch ride great, and the extra travel will soak up the bumps better. You can run 4600's if you want stock height.

A reservoir shock will provide a better ride but the costs will add up.

If nose dive on braking is bothering you go with a digressive shock like icon

    Thanks for suggestions so far

With ICON I don't think I can keep stock height? Maybe im mistaken

Don't know anything about Dobinsons, why would they be better than 5100's?

Thought about 5160's, because of the reservoir, though I dont think the shock itself is any different than the 5100.

Any further suggestions? or reasoning behind a specific setup?

What about nose dive AND nose rise from the supercharger/torque of the 2nd gen?

    Nice, does it driver smoother?

I need to check on that and see if I can keep stock height.

For the best ride, a set of tuned Fox/King would be a great option to toss in your poll. Quality product, no questions asked and we can tune for those bumpy roads. We have a lot of happy customers in Hawaii that deal with bump roads on the daily.

Nose rise is pretty considerable with boost, but totally satisfying

I have thought about Fox/Kings many times, mostly for my 06, however for this one the height is the problem as I understand with Fox/Kings it would get raised.

The poll was mostly for entertainment purposes :anonymous:, thanks for the advice

Fox comes with a 13" long spring, so you can get closer to 0-1" lift by adjusting preload. King on the other hand, comes with a 14" long spring and the lowest you can go is like 1.5". Both are adjustable

for the ones you mentioned I’d say dobbo
